I think the Lions may of seen the light!!! They've signed John Kitna and today signed Josh McGowan. Those 2 are expected to compete for the starting job. Lions are expected to release or trade Harrington before June when he's due a roster bonus.
McCown, lol... but yes, I did see that Harrington is supposed to be released. Yet another player on the market, making me wonder where they'll play next season.
Harrington has asked to be released. I would like to see Harrington go to Oakland. I think the change of scenery would be nice for him.
I dont think Harrington will be more than a backup QB in the league. In detriot he had 3 1st round WRs to throw to. The only way i think he will actually be good when he leaves detriot is if he finds a very solid offensive line.

This is so typical of the Lions. Tons of big name QB's out there in free agency with huge upsides and they land Jon Kitna, an aging career backup with one solid season under his belt. Lions fans must be thrilled with Matt "The Moron" Millen right now...

Kitna isn't that great and neither is Josh McCowan..

I say McCown has a stronger arm and is faster than "Doey In The Headlights". I saw him in the locker room on the NFL Network and he's much more of a leader and many players stood behind him when they replaced him with Warner. These two guys both had the opportunity to work with Mike Martz at critical points in their careers. McCown is thrilled for the chance and is playing for his first big contract two years from now. "Joe Joe Dancer" has already had his big pay day. Plus he would have made an additional $8,450,000 this year with the Lions, yet he wanted out! I hope he can live his dream playing a back-up roll in San Francisco. Let's not forget Kitna made the Pro Bowl in 2003 and then sat down for Carson Palmer in 2004 ... he's hungry to prove himself again. What a great opportunity for Kitna to work with Coach Martz, at age 33 he's young enough to have several solid years. I have a feeling some Packer fans remember this McCown highlight! http://vikessuck.ytmnd.com/
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MKIV_Supra)</div><div class='quotemain'>Oh God, they got to McCown before the Ravens did? This is flat out embarassing...</div> Maybe Joey's your man? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE ("Tom Kowalski)</div><div class='quotemain'>Harrington was so adamant about leaving the Lions that several people close to the situation believe he sabotaged his appearance at last week's "quarterback school" with new offensive coordinator Mike Martz. During the classroom sessions, when asked to go to the board and break down plays, Harrington put forth little effort. When asked to either open his playbook or to take notes, Harrington either refused or was extremely slow to do so. He was lethargic and uncooperative. According to sources, it was quickly apparent to Martz that Harrington had no desire to be there. After Martz and Harrington had words, Harrington went into a meeting with Lions officials and told them he didn't want to play for Detroit any longer. Harrington was so determined to leave the team that, according to sources, he said he'd be willing to restructure his contract in any way that would quicken his release. Harrington's desire to leave the Lions was sparked not by the management or the new coaching staff, but the entire negative environment that surrounded him, including fans, media and his own teammates. According to sources, Harrington told team officials during an emotional exchange that "I hate everybody on this team and everybody hates me."</div> A total "Girlyman" in my opinion. I'd love to see him land in Green Bay!
