In Sunday's Seattle Times, there was a blurb that said Murphy could be coming to seattle, but had no mention of whom the warriors could be sending to seattle. who would you want for murphy? Lewis is hurt, Allen in untradeable...Collison sounds good.
Collison is Poison Pill and Wilcox is under Base Year Compensation rules (like Dun). It's going to be almost impossible to work a trade with Seattle involving Murphy for Wilcox and/or Collison because making the salaries fit under the rules is tricky at best. At this point I'm willing to move Murph for some major cap relief, but his trade value appears to be at an all-time low and few other teams will want to take on the same contract we are very obviously desperate to rid ourselves of. Murphy straight up for Lewis is a trade that works though.
I doubt we could get anything good in return for him, so at this point I would prefer cap relief. People in Seattle are complaining about Wilcox not performing up to expectations.
Damn what if it's Ray Allen, Swift or conditional 1rst rounder for Jrich/Murphy? Would anyone bite on that?

Ray Allen is getting older, but every team needs a quick, intelligent shooter that can pass and dribble. He'd be like having an extra point guard on the floor or he could pick up our non-existent midrange game. We lose Jrich though...

He has the size, speed, IQ, incredible shooting, ball handling, and passing. The only downer is his age, but he is in his prime as of now. This trade would make a ton more sense than getting A.I. (which is a moot point now). A running team needs players who can shoot, which is why I think our team is below .500 since we have none. But as you said, we'd lose JRich. Who I believe is still going to improve, is young, and has the heart of a Warrior. His knee is really holding him back though. However, this trade would never happen. I really doubt Seattle would give up Allen unless it was a really sweet deal. custodian, Who would you rather have? Paul Pierce or Ray Allen? Both handle the rock, pass, shoot, and make FT's.
Troy and Mike for Wilcox and Fortson works according to realgm's trade checker... But I would look to deal Dunleavy/Zarko for Maggette first .
lewis for a murphy/mcleod works as well.... injured hand or not i take that deal....even if we have to put pietrus in mcleod's place
Why ar Seattle trading Lewis for Murphy and his contract though? We already have Wilcox, Collison and Fortson on the roster, and it doesn't give us cap room.
<div class="quote_poster">AnimeFANatic Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> custodian, Who would you rather have? Paul Pierce or Ray Allen? Both handle the rock, pass, shoot, and make FT's.</div> Right now? I like Paul Pierce because he's more versatile (very capable at shooting guard or small forward), he's got better defense and rebounding than Ray Allen. Pierce could very well be a triple double threat on some occasions as he is an above average passer. But I'll always like Ray Allen because he's everything a shooting guard should be that most 6'4-6'6 players aren't. We always talk about what Jrich could be if he could develop some great passing and ballhandling skills while continuing to work on things like his shot off the dribble, first step off the dribble, and man-to-man defense. Paul Pierce is already that player, but if Jrich never reaches that level, then I think a trade for Pierce would be in order. Just not now maybe. I would definitely like Pierce or Allen type talent over Jrich though. Both wouldn't lose the ball or miss easy free throws in the 4th quarter like Jrich would. Jrich has to work that much harder on his game to even be comparable to one of the two. That's not to say I'd give up on Jrich now. I like his persona, youth, and his contract. Most franchises build upon big men or point guards and I think Jrich is kind of like a Richard Jefferson to us. If we had Kidd or Carter, he'd be an asset. But we still need an inside presence or its that much harder... I wouldn't mind us trading for a guy like Rashard Lewis if we could swing that trade. A lineup of Baron/Jrich/Lewis/Ike/Biedrins would be super cool. I think all could do very well in the running game.

Especially because of the way Mullin structured these deals with the players' agents.
I would think getting an expiring contract is harder to do with Murphy than making a trade. With a trade for Wilcox, we'd prolly have to take some garbage back, too. Yes, talk is cheap compared to actually trading Murphy.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">we'd prolly have to take some garbage back, too.</div> Excuse my ignorance, but what does prolly mean? I've seen it on the board a few times, but I don't get it.
It doesn't make much sense that Seattle would trade either Lewis or Wilcox for Murphy. We'd probably have to move Murph for a couple of smaller contracts, if we could get Earl Watson and some scrubs with smal, short term contracts that would be a success IMO.
Well, with the way Murphy has slumped, and with the way he's been handled (given less minutes and then shelved for some strange reason) he's gone from being a "double-double" guy to a "double-trouble" guy. His value has dropped from slim to none, IMO. First, just like with JRich, teams won't know what they're getting because he's not out there to show that he can still play. Instead, he's going to foot doctors and dressing in suits. Second, he doesn't have upside. I mean, Amare Stoudamire could have been in a full body-cast and I'd still trade for him because there's just unlimited potential for what he could be if/when he comes back from injury. It's worth the gamble. However, with a guy like Murphy, he could have a splinter in his pinky finger and he's suddenly radioactive. No one wants to touch him, because worse case scenario is he's a 5pt 4 reb guy getting good $$, or even if he comes back better than before he'd still just barely be living up to that contract Mully gave him. Oh, and BTW I'd take Ray Allen hands down over Pierce. He's twice the shooter that Pierce is, IMO, and doesn't need to go one-on-one. He can just stretch the D for Baron. That'd be awesome.
