<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ThrashIsGod)</div><div class='quotemain'>With all this talk about Dallas being a lock to win a Superbowl now that they have TO, I offer this perspective. Terrell Owens couldn't win a Superbowl in Philadelphia playing with Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, Todd Pinkston, LJ Smith, and a defense with Jevon Kearse, Jeremiah Trotter, and Brian Dawkins. Terrell Owens couldn't win a Superbowl in San Francisco playing with Steve Young, Garrison Hearst, Jerry Rice, Brent Jones, and a defense with Dana Stubblefield, Ken Norton, and Rod Woodson. What will he do with Drew Bledsoe, Julius Jones, Terry Glenn, Jason Witten, and Demarcus Ware, (insert you best Dallas LB here) and Roy Williams??? While Dallas is not a terrible team, they are not better than the '04 Eagles or any 49er team from 96-98 and probably even 99-00 with Garcia and Garner.</div> Excellent point.
He may just be a "Parcells Guy"....Keyshawn Johnson(while never as bad as TO) was thought to be a team killing cancer when he left Tampa, but hes ok in Dallas because hes a "Parcells Guy"....maybe TO will become that....If I was betting though, Id bet he doesnt finish this contract....hes good for 1 year of behavior, but if he has a big year, hes gonna say hes proven himself and hes gonna want to get paid, thats been his pattern....
If TO danced on my team's logo I dont see how I could possibly justify rooting for him. It's quite sad what some are willing to accept for a winning season.
If Andy Reid couldn't control TO then I have a hard time thinking BP will either. I agree with bakes, it is sad what some teams and fans will do to win. I still think Dallas needs to upgrade their OL & secondary in order to contend. Philly has made alot of good moves. Enough IMO to reclaim the top spot in the NFCE.
Some of you may have noticed that I have not been posting much lately. Some work changes has been the primary culprit, but I have also been spending my time networking...Cowboy networking. I was able to meet some important media people in the Dallas area, and I have been trying to build that and enhance the circle of friends/contact/knowledge. I had about 2 weeks notice on the TO thing before it broke. I'm still learning who always means what they say and who bends the truth with their opinion, so I avoided mentioning the TO thing on here until the first day of free agency, a couple days before the issue heated up in the media. Here's my take on the TO thing. 1. Anyone who thinks this move makes the Cowboys the Superbowl favorite is high. I haven't heard that mentioned before, but I have heard that it makes them at least a contender. Along with their other moves (two offensive line, one linebacker, and some other depth) and future moves (an above-average kicker to be signed soon), I believe this does make them a strong playoff team. 2. We won't know if this is a good move for 12 months, so leave it alone. By then Parcells's ship could have sailed. This may be his last season (coaching). Yeah, I know he just got an extension, but.... For now, this TO signing is a one-year, live-for-today, deal. 3. Parcells and TO won't go to war against each other. Again, for at least one year, TO may become a Parcells guy. When he wants to, its obvious that TO can practice hard and play hard. That's all Parcells wants. Here's the only iffy subject: Parcells refuses to accept injuries unless they are considered really serious. This nagging hamstring would have driven him nuts. On the other hand, was it really an issue. When it counted, TO wanted to play on a broken leg. 4. Peter King said: "Nineteen years ago, I was a Giants beat man for Newsday in Lawrencelace> Taylor-Jints. Parcells had his way of dealing with Taylor divisiveness. As Phil Simms told me Sunday, "He'd say, 'Simms, lose a few battles. Win the war.'" Parcells figured out how to get the most out of the curfew-abusing, drug-doing, meeting-sleeping, totally irreverent Taylor, who might well have flamed out under many other coaches. Parcells challenged him, he coddled him, he made some of the responsible guys on the team -- Joe Morris, Robbie Jones -- absolutely mad with anger over LT's preferential treatment. But as Parcells would say, "I'm not interested in being fair. I'm interested in being right.'' That's why he's the right coach at the right time for Owens. 5. Agree or not, but this is a good deal for Jerry Jones. This isn't a team that was knocking on the door of the Superbowl last year, so it doesn't have as far to fall from a team-wrecker. Owens is a great football player in a young body. But the only thing in this paragraph that matters are the words "Owens is a great football player.'' Jones has toyed with the Jimmy Johnson volatility. Remember what a pain in the a$$ Charles Haley was when he left the 49ers. Neon Deon....Keyshawn... Jones doesn't shy away from this stuff and is willing to take a risk. After one year, if it doesn't work out, cut him and you are only out 3 million. 6. I dont like TO. I dont have to. I am a true fan of my team, though thick and thin. That means I don't leave them when they lose, and I don't quit rooting for them when they make stupid mistakes. Fans that live in Dallas are very fickle. Before the signing, he was still Public Enemy #1. If TDs start clicking, that will change. Maybe that isn't bad if you're a person that roots for the team, not the players. 7 Phil Simms said "When I talk about football players, real football players, I don't know a single real football player who didn't like to play for Bill Parcells and who didn't have a lot of respect for him. Now we're going to find out if T.O.'s a real football player. If he doesn't get along with Bill, there'll be no doubt about it anymore. We'll all know the truth.'' ..... The rest of the league will be watching.

Enough IMO to reclaim the top spot in the NFCE.</div> For what its worth, they did upgrade their OL with a new starting right tackle. They also signed a guard that may or may not start, but he is better than the depth they have. Do not rule out a early round draft pick here too. Their secondary needs little help actually. The free safety position is the only one that gave the whole unit fits. This will be fixed before training camp. The also need more LB depth, which has been addressed somewhat already. From what I hear, they aren't done here either. If they had a good kicker last year, they may have very well had a first round bye....at the least a playoff spot. This issue is very close to being put to bed. Its still too early in the year to make a divisional favorite, but all four teams have improved themselves.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Cowboy71)</div><div class='quotemain'>but all four teams have improved themselves.</div> I wouldn't go that far. Washington, surprise, has spent alot of $. If history is any indication then the 'skins underachieve yet again. I just got done watching Drew Rosehaus on Sportscenter talk anout Terrell signing with Dallas. "Terrell deserved this". "Terrell is a good guy". I hope beef has not gotten rid of all his bags - I REALLY need one.

He sounded like an unprofessional, flat-out idiot the last few times I have seen him talk.

My only real problem with the Cowboys signing T.O. is the money that they gave him. The contract is just ridiculous money... I would have given him a one year deal or a more incentive laden contract. Just my opinion... I think Dallas is a perfect fit for T.O. They are the self-proclaimed "America's Team" and T.O. thrives in the spotlight. It's not like he's going to a small market team like Green Bay. That would drive him nuts.
