<div class="quote_poster">Quoting sportsaholic:</div><div class="quote_post">He attempted over 45 shots today and had 4 assist. So much for passing.</div> He shot better then the team. Yes, you need to play the game's you got but that helps...</div> All we can do is wait until the end of the season to see if the Lakers have a better record than last season. Also, in the beginning of this thread you were bashing Kobe for passing the ball, now your complaining he shoots too much?

The Lakers are better when everyone is involved. That's not all on Kobe though. His teammates need to have the confidence in themselves to just run the play and not continually defer to him when a big shot is needed.
There was no reason for Kobe to take 40 shots last night. He shot a decent percentage, but he broke away from the offense, and his teammates became spectators instead of getting involved in the flow. What's irritating are the shots the Lakers take with 20 seconds still left on the shotclock. Sasha launched a 3 pointer in transition Mo Evans had a couple Kobe had a handful And the Space Cadet also launched shots to early These low percentage bricks, lead to fastbreaks on the other end, or cheap fouls reaching out to stop the fastbreak. I don't think it's a matter of trusting one another this year. Kobe's teammates have earned his trust and he's doing what he can to keep them confident and productive. However, I don't think some of these players really trust the offense. Any chance they get to isolate or not make the extra pass, they proceed to break away from the Triangle and leads to a turnover or missed shot. There's a lot of possessions when Kobe goes to make a pass to the wingside and has to hold it up, because the player isn't in position to receive the pass and continue the ball movement. Kobe has to then point to the spot on the court to where the player should be and with precious seconds ticking off the clock, it turns into Kobe forcing up a tough shot.

I've said previously in this thread that Kobe is playing better by passing the ball to his teammates. However, in this particular game, the team was not shooting well enough, hence Kobe had a right to take a bigger load of the shooting. Also, with Lamar Odom out, he's expected to take a bigger load of the scoring. Don't forget the game went into triple overtime as well.

He may have been shooting close to 50%, but he was making the other 4 players stagnant on offense. There was only one time where he was in a "GROOVE" and I can't remember when that was, I think the 4th quarter where he made like 3 shots in a row, you can just tell something was clicking with him. Kobe needs to stop taking over the game and forgetting his teammates out there. We are not using him correctly. Then when he decides to pass to them, oh they're supposed to do something spectacular with it and if his teammmates miss a shot, then they suck. ALl I know is I want Lamar Odom back, and I can't wait for that.
And one more staggering fact for you guys: Kobe takes 45 shots and NO ONE else on the team shoots more than 10 shots. And those who did shoot 10, Parker was 5/10, Luke was 5/10, and Kwame was 4/10. In 3 overtimes and only 1 player shoots more than 10 FG's, that's crap.

He didn't start hogging the ball until OT (you give the impression he was only in a groove during the 4th quarter, this is false). Kobe played great until the overtime period (where he did make bad shot selections from that point on). Aside from this game, he's only had one other game where he has taken more than 30 shots this season (and that was in a game where he played 54 minutes). I'm over this already.

There was this part in the 4th where he was in a groove and I didn't mind riding his hot hand (no homo) He is the best player in the NBA, I don't knock him for the 48 minutes, but it was the last 15 minutes that kills me. Being a leader is not what Kobe did in the OT's last night IMO. He totally excommunicated his team out there, which won't win us ball games. <div class="quote_poster">huevonkiller Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe played great until the overtime period (where he did make bad shot selections from that point on). We need to run our offense, then towards the last minute or two, go to Kobe, but in a smart way. Where he can take it to the whole and get fouled with an AND 1, or dish it out for a wide open shot. Not him shooting DIFFICULT jumpers, there's no advantage in that no matter how MONEY Kobe is from a certain spot.

He didn't need to get assists in OT, just shoot less and take easier shots. Don't even start with the rebounding... That means nothing, he averages 5 a game, that's respectable. That's nitpicky of you.

Nash is nearly 5 inches shorter and he adverges 3!

When that happens he doesn't need to pass, fellow (hence his assists numbers in the 62/81 point were low). Please don't talk about the rebounds again... So he should have gotten one more then I guess, shoot me. That's not the problem and you sound like kris13nash (whatever his name was; a pricky suns fan). And btw, Nash get's 3 RPG because of the pace his team plays, or else that would decrease.
Well, obviously Kobe Bryant is <u>near</u> the best player in the NBA then. He doesn't have a complete game.

Since November, when his Knee was almost normal, his PER has been 25.4, and his per was 28 last year.
