That's too bad. Point differential indicates they weren't nearly as bad as their record, and they had the 6th most difficult schedule according to Sagarin. This probably signals they're going after Oden and want to develop the young players more.
I wonder if it also indicates the Grizzlies have found a new potential buyer who wants certain concessions made before they buy the team? Or perhaps this team is ready to make a drastic move and trade Gasol and Fratello didn't want to be apart of it.

This move will only help them win too. Mike Fratello's a horrible coach. Not only did he refuse to change the Grizzlies' offensive sets when Pau Gasol went down, so that they still ran the offense through the four spot, but the players hate the guy. He's scared every good Grizzlie outside of Gasol out of town. The conspiracy theories are really off base. This was a long time coming. Jerry West, although he won't admit it, hated Mike Fratello. He's been upset with him not playing his young stars ever since last year's Lawrence Roberts argument. Great move!
I did wonder why I haven't heard anyting of the Grizzlies so far. They were a good team last season, except the PO's when Pau couldn't lead his team. Well, Memphis says: Bye-bye "The Czar".

It seems to me that West wanted to go young and athletic and basically rebuild the team. Do you think Gasol will be traded soon?
Voodoo, who are some coaching canidates the Grizzlies are considering replacing Fratello with, and do you have any personal preferences on the next head coach for this team?
Seems like the Grizz are going into full rebuilding mode and cleaning house. I don't think they'll trade Pau, right now they're sitting on the worst record in the league with the best draft in years coming up. If they get the top pick and take Oden then they'll have Pau, Oden, Gay, Lowry, Miller, Warrick which is a very good young core. They'd be sitting pretty if they were to get Oden, Durant, Thabeet, Noah, etc.
