<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It has been quite a learning experience for Andre Miller, a change of style and scenery he's had to make on the fly as the new point guard of the 76ers.

"On the fly" seems to be an accurate description. Miller played in three games for the Sixers after being acquired from Denver in the Allen Iverson trade before he even participated in a full practice with his new team.

As the Sixers tried to find some wins in their disappointing season, starting with last night's matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden, it's up to Miller to pick up things quicker than might be expected otherwise.

"It's going to take some time, but I think the guys are pretty much wanting some direction and leadership on the court," Miller said yesterday after the team's morning shoot-around. "I just have to make the simple passes, that's all. I have to get everybody involved and I think everybody will be happy. As long as we play hard, the guys will be all right."

But it's quite a transition that the point guard has to make. His old team, the Nuggets, played more of a fastbreaking game than his new team, which runs a lot of half-court offense, so he has more plays to learn with the Sixers.

"It's tough," he said. "It's a different type of offense, not as much running and a lot of play-calling. But it's something where you've just got to take your time and not try to force things.

"We want to run a lot of offense here. It's pretty much the same plays that I'm used to, but with different names. I just glance over for a second [to the bench] and see where I should go and who the play is actually for, so I'm getting it right now."

In his first three games with the Sixers, Miller averaged 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists. That compared with figures of 13.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 9.1 assists he compiled with Denver before the trade.

I really hope the 76ers hold on to this guy having a pure point guard, despite his age, has allowed us to finally get some ball movement on the offensive end of the court. Iguodala has thrived because of this, and Carney is starting to heat up as well. If we want a shot at Durant/Oden we should probably trade him.
