What is going with "Shamu?" Is he any good in practice at least? I'm starting to think this was a bad pickup considering we have Smush and Farmar out there not to mention our main dish man is Odom and Vujacic can play point too.
I can't see how it would be a bad pickup, even if he is seeing little playing time, he is only signed to a one year 1.7 million dollar deal. It's not like a long term investment was made in him. I think he was signed more for depth, and insurance in case Farmar didn't produce when he was given his oppurtunity. Smush was the projected starter heading into the season, with Farmar the backup. Then Vujacic and Williams getting their licks in whenever they could. So I don't really see how he can be considered a disappointment.
Like Gameface said, he was signed for more depth at the point guard position, just in case either Smush or Farmar got injured, we would be very weak at the point guard position. You can't really judge him as to if he is a good player or not, since he hasn't really even played yet. In the pre-season though, the guy showed that he is capable of shooting the ball, which I guess is a good sign. PS: Shammond Williams is Kevin Garnett's cousin (yes, start the speculation lol)
Believe It or not Williams when he was getting court time a few years ago he is alot like the current Smush Parker. Good scorer, quite quick and played with plenty of energy. Wether thats good or bad, you be the judge.

The Lakers acquired Shamu prior to the draft. I don't think they anticipated Jordan Farmar being available when they selected, and Farmar has stepped right in and produced. It put Shamu as the odd man out in the rotation. I am curious to see what Shamu can do for this team, it's hard to imagine he can't outplay Sasha Vujacic.
Thanks for the answers everyone and yes Shape your right, I remember when he got picked up before the draft and I believe everyone thought the Lakers we're going to draft a forward instead of a PG at the time.
