The Associated Press reports the NFL is once again going to consider an annual proposal from the Kansas City Chiefs to expand the playoffs from 12 to 14 teams. He said there was more interest in it this year, although Atlanta general manager Rich McKay, co-chairman of the league's competition committee, stopped short of saying the committee would recommend it.

I think it should stay the way it is. We already have the best playoff system compared to the other leagues.

I wonder how the playoffs would work if their were 7 teams making in?

There would have to be like a play in game

I heard this idea being discussed last summer.

It would work like this; Only the #1 seed would get a bye. #2 would play #7 and so forth. The next week #1 would play the lowest seed remaining (7, 6, or 5). The playoffs would still be 3 weeks long.

Carl Peterson should concentrate on getting his club to the current playoff system, rather than watering it down to get an annual first round exit.

I say keep it the way it is. That's what make the NFL so special. In the NBA half the teams make the playoffs and all you need is a late season run.

I agree. In fact . . . less playoff teams might be a good thing

And we do not need a 7-game series to determine the winner!

IMO just leave it be its been like this for a while..... why change it at all? the 12 best teams get in now if you have another expansion team or two in later years then yea that'd work out better.. I say leave as is its fine in my book

That's the thing, the 6th team almost always has no business in the playoffs, so a 7th wouldn't make much difference to the current in my opinion.

The better question would be, do we add one or reduce one?

I would want to take away 8 teams. make each conference into 2 divisions of 8 teams. play a 14 game schedule(all division) and just have division winners play in each conference to go to super bowl

I like the idea of having 2 divisions instead of 4, but the scheduling of only divisional opponents won't fly imo.

They propose it every year (Not just the 10-6 ones). It is Carl Peterson's feeble attempt at a legacy I guess.

Yeah it should be kept the way it is but seven could work good just have the 1 seed be the only bye. six is good though.

its fine the way it is there are no problems with our old one. but i dont think i'd really care that much if there was a 7th seed it wouldnt be that big of a deal IMO
