<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Los Angeles Clippers are no longer in the running to swing a trade for Ron Artest, general manager Elgin Baylor said Saturday. "As far as anything goes with Ron Artest, that's a dead issue," Baylor said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "We're no longer talking to Sacramento about Artest ? that's not going to happen." The Sacramento Kings contacted the Clippers last week to discuss the possibility of a trade for the former NBA defensive player of the year. The Kings did not, however, follow up the opening talks with a formal trade proposal. Baylor said the Clippers are still looking at other possible deals. "We're always looking to improve the team," Baylor said, according to the Times. "We talk to teams regularly about players we're interested in, players that we think can help us, and we'll also listen if someone comes to us with something that we think makes sense for us. That's what you have to do when you're trying to win." The Clippers are 13-16 and have won three of their last four -- including one against the Kings -- since a six-game losing streak dropped them to a season-worst five games under .500. They host the New York Knicks on Sunday. </div> Link
This sucks for Clipper fans. I think Artest is a much better player than Magette and the Clippers would have gotten the better end of this deal.

So it was acutualy a bigger loss to the Kings.

I can't say I'm sad about this, Artest just brings too much bagagge, nice player, but if he focused on defense and left himself as a 3rd-4th option type offensive player, he'd be much more valuable. He still thinks he can be on the Kobe, Wade, Arenas level on the offensive end, and wants that kind of treatment.
