Interesting. Perhaps this could be a roster move to open up space for someone else to come in.... but who?

POB is placed on the inactive list along with Monta and JRich. Figure Roberson must be coming back. Edit: The last sentence didn't sound too good to me, especially the open ended part. "The amount of time he will spend in Bakersfield is open-ended."
I think it's what AlleyOop said. It could be to free up an opening for a temporary guy that's actually nba ready. And with POB, we all knew he would be nowhere near nba ready despite posting up promising numbers in the NCAA and MVC. It's like what's going on with guys like Andrew Bynum, LaMarcus Aldridge, or Tyrus Thomas who were either in or bound for better basketball conferences. Yeah, they'll do a few nice amazing things in the nba, but coaches won't play them until they iron out the rough edges in practice. Nelson hates rookies like any other coach with a system and especially most centers because it doesn't fit his style of small ball. It's better to send him down to NBDL. No shame in it. Dorrell Wright and Gerald Green have been down there and I think their games have slightly improved because of it.
Yeah, I think O'Bryant needs some PT to get his offense going. I always here that he is a good shooter when he touches the ball, but I always see bricks from him. Hopefully he can find his offensive groove when he is in the D-league. Is there a way we can emulate the transformation of Matt Barnes looking like Roberson with his much improved shot, but in this case with O'Bryant starting to emulate (to some degree) Ike Diogu with improved low post moves? Now I like O'Bryant's court awareness more than I see from Ike. But just give O'Bryant some good post moves like Ike, and that would be fun to see.
I think this will be good for O'Bryant because what he really needs the most is playing time and practice time and he'll get it in the D-League. Hes already pretty skilled, he just needs to get used to the speed of the game, get some court awareness, etc. You have to remember that he came from Bradley and hes still only 20 years old so really any basketball playing time should be very helpful for him.
It's one or more of 3 things 1) POB needs lots of work - check 2) Need to free up space to sign a scrub - Yet to be seen 3) A trade is coming to where the Warriors will be taking on more players than they are receiving - Yet to be seen probably 2 out of the 3
CR2, I was trying to point out that moving POB to the inactive list for D-league doesn't mean the Warriors will sign somebody. However, having JRich and Monta out for a while could mean the Warriors will sign somebody in order to find a temporary replacement at SG. Roberson and McLeod haven't been too great, so it's possible that the Warriors add another perimeter shooter. Maybe Qyntel Woods who's athletic. Or Casey Jacobsen who can shoot. Mullin was after Frodo earlier. Those are just guesses. I'm not sure who's good out of the list guys available.

I also like Cohanhater's idea. Maybe Mullin + Nelson found something for Murphy.
I'm pretty sure that sending POB to the D-League doesn't free up any roster spaces, hes just on IL now.
Louis Williams is down there as well. It'd be interesting to see how he does. He was the Sixer's version of Monta Ellis. I'm not sure how good his defense is, but he can flat out score in high school and has great all-around athletic ability. With POB down there, I think this will be good for him. He'll have to play against some of these quick guys and maybe against some who are his size but are stronger. It'll teach him to work hard. Also, he won't be picked on by the other players because he's the only rookie this season
I'm not sure that this will make him work harder or be of any benefit to the Warriors. My concern is that he didn't even want to play college ball. He was offered scholarships at big schools and turned them down. He went to Bradley not planning on playing and was eventually "convinced" by the coach to come out for the team. It's pretty obvious he doesn't really like playing or at least doesn't want to put in work. I've been hearing about how he has work ethic issues still. If he can't get up for playing on an NBA team and use that as motivation to get better, I'm afraid going to the D-League will just dampen his spirits even more. I think this may be his last stop on the way out of the league. I'm wishing we had selected Ronnie Brewer or Rodney Carney more and more every day.
Hey, hey, wait a minute! According to Nellie, this kid is the "future of the franchise..." Now he wouldn't say something like that just to up the draft-pick's trade value would he? C'mon!

This is just what I've heard though, you could be right since I haven't really researched it.
Yeah, he didn't take the rookie-hazing too well, I don't see him eager to join the fraternity of NBA players. I guess he thinks he can make $$ multi-mils cooking for people? UPDATE: http://www.nba.com/dleague/ http://www.bakersfield.com/136/story/92076.html http://www.nba.com/dleague/bakersfield/obryant_061231.html He's playing for the Bakersfield Jam. Let's see if he can put up some numbers.

Only if we Cut/buy out,O'Bryant is he not one of our 15. The plus is strictly that POB gets on a basketball court. Just sitting till garbage time does little to upgrade his game.

While with several players-negatives seem to be all that gets notices-Teflon Mike gets away with looking horrid.

He could have been just trying to toot his own horn saying he was the only guy who could get POB to play but that's what he said.
So there's a lot of speculation that we might have picked up an underachiever and a bigger project than Biedrins was? Man, this is scary if we don't find some depth to challenge/support Biedrins.
