What a waste of cap room. They only need steve smith. He is the whole team. Just build the defense

The deal was 4 year 14 million. Which avgs to 3.5 million a year.

    Here the projected depth chart
    WR 1: Steve Smith
    WR 2: Keyshawn Johnson
WR 3: Drew Carter (was hot at the end of the season)
    WR 4: Keary Colbert
WR 5: Ricky Proehl if he stays
    WR 6: Karl Hankton

Assuming Proehl stays then panthers will probly have to activate 6 WRs every game because Karl Hankton is the special teams captian.

I don't know the specifics but don't think its a complete waste.

A good possession WR or Decent TE to compliment a speedy WR such as Smith is needed.

If Carolina did have either then quite possibly they could have been representing the NFC in SB 40.

Just throw it up near steve smith, he will get it. Keyshawn will be jealous. Tear the team apart.

Steve Smith cant catch the ball when he is quadruple covered. Keyshawn johnson will take one of those guys and maybe a safety over the top. Then if Foster is healthy that even helps some more.

wow personally i think this is a fantastic move. i've been saying all along if the Panthers get someone to complement Smith someone that can make the defenses have to cover someone else on the field the Panthers will be superbowl bound. Great sign and this will pay off

This signing will be a bust. The biggest problem with Meshawn Johnson is that he brings the trappings of an NFL Diva with none of the talent. As much as I hate Turd Orifice and Randy Moss, I can sort of understand why people roll the dice on them because of their talent. I have no idea why anyone would sign Meshawn.

Me Shawn is not as slefish as every one thinks he is, I mean the guy does everything he can to help his team out, He Blocks and is one of the best Blcoking Wideouts in the NFL while other big name recievers hardly attempt to do so. Keyshawn also played an H-Back like positioin several times with Dallas this year and stayed in the backfield for protection due to his highly developed blocking abillity thus taking away some catches. Besides if he was all about Meshawn woulden't he have complained about Terry Glenn receiving alot of "his" Catches and attention?

Johnson isn't after a championship.. He was after more money.. He wanted it Dallas which is one of the reasons why he was released. He wanted more from New York which is why he didn't sign there. He happened to get lucky and sign with a team that is pretty good and had the money to make him happy..

I think they wasted money on him as well.

Panthers dont bring in players that have bad characters. And John Fox saw that Johnson has matured and still has lots of skills.

Keyshawn has some of the most underated hands in the league

Johnson does want a Championships here is Keyshawns quote:
"Johnson called WR Steve Smith "the most dominant force in the NFL at wide receiver" and said he was looking forward to lining up next to him. "I didn't come here to catch 100 balls," Johnson said. "I came here because I feel Carolina is the team with the best chance to get to the Super Bowl.''

Well what else do you expect him to say.... I don't want to win??

He also said something about money as well.. None the less he ends up in a good situation but Carolina over paid him.
