“Bernard can play both guard and forward, is a good defender and will add athleticism and depth off our bench,” said Thorn.

Currently in his third NBA season out of Michigan, Robinson (6’6”/210) was a second round selection (45th overall) of the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2004 NBA Draft. In 118 career games, Robinson has averaged 4.8 ppg and 2.9 rpg in 15.9 mpg. This season, Robinson has appeared in 21 games for the Bobcats, averaging 2.4 ppg and 2.0 rpg.</div>

I haven't really seen much of Robinson. I hope he's a much better player than McInnis, but at least McInnis' contract is out of our hands.

Well we sent away the cancer but it's not like this deal helped us. I really don't think Robinson is going to get any mins anyway.

Of course it's great to trade a load of crap like McInnis.

That was a crappy trade..there are so many better point guards out there without the attitude..I'm puzzled by this deal.

Nets Save About $5 Million by Trading McInnis to Bobcats

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets traded the disgruntled point guard Jeff McInnis to the Charlotte Bobcats yesterday for the swingman Bernard Robinson.

The Nets wanted to make the trade to unload McInnis’s $3.6 million contract so they could move under the N.B.A.’s luxury-tax threshold. Teams must pay a dollar-for-dollar tax on any part of their payroll that exceeds $65.42 million. Those below the luxury tax level receive a rebate at the end of the season.

The trade is expected to save the Nets about $5 million. Robinson, 26, is making $1 million this season, but his salary did not have to match McInnis’s because the Bobcats are below the salary cap. The Nets also sent an undisclosed amount of money to the Bobcats.</div>
