Hmm, nah, I was looking at the play-by-play:

Vujacic Jump Shot: Made (7 PTS)
    Assist: Bryant (9 AST) 8:26
    [LAL 99-88]

His 9th assist was off a basket from Sasha.

Parker Driving Layup: Made (7 PTS) 0:00
    [LAL 117-117]

On Smush's layup, no assist was credited.

The Kings CHOKED! I have to admit it, im disgusted in my team. I cant believe the way bibby served that game to the Lakers on a silver platter the way he did. Bibby misses a freethrow and then leaves his man WIDE OPEN while cutting to the basket which results in a layup? How do you give a up a three pointer, miss 2 out of 3 free throws and give up a layup...all in 6 seconds? Sac deserved to lose after that disgraceful effort in closing out the 4th quarter. They had the game in the bag and then donated it to LA.
BIBBY SHOULD NEVER EVER EVER BE IN THE GAME ON A DEFENSIVE PLAY WHEN THE OTHER TEAM HAS THE LAST POSESSION. Bibby left parker wide open cutting to the hoop so he could go double team kobe 30 feet away from the basket? I cant stand the way Bibby plays D, and as far as im concerned this pathetic loss is entirely his fault. GIVE ME ONE MORE GOOD REASON BIBBY AND I SWEAR I'LL START A "TRADE BIBBY" THREAD.

The officiating was HORRENDOUS in this game. The fact the Lakers blew a 21 point lead was disappointing, but the officials did all they could to allow Sacramento back in this game. I'm glad Charles Barkley was able to announce the play by play and criticize the terrible officiating on national TV. These are the type of games Laker fans gripe about because of the mistreatment Kobe Bryant gets down the stretch of games. Unbelievable!

Last night's game was emotionally draining. I'm was estatic the Lakers pulled off the victory in OT, because they deserved this game.

The maturity of Kobe's game was apparent last night in crunch time and this victory will carry over for the rest of the season. He made the right decision 90% of the time last night and his teammates delivered some clutch baskets.

Go Lakers! We are now 5-0 against the Pacific Division.

Well, I was out last night, but I came back at around 10, so I was able to catch the last couple of minutes of the fourth, and the OT. The last couple of minutes was just incredible. I remember saying to myself when we were down like 5, okay it's over. Then, Radmanovic hits a three point shot. Kobe gets called for the non-shooting foul, the Kings miss the free throw. Kings get the ball back, Lakers foul, and I believe they made 1 out of 2. Then, Lakers possession, Kobe passess to Smush Parker, and Parker makes the layup. After we tied the ball game up, and it was going to OT, I was confident the Lakers would win because they had all the momentum by their side.

Now, I didn't catch all of the game, but from what I've read, the Lakers really need to learn how to close out games. Regardless of how horrible the officiating was, I'm sure it wasn't enough for us to cough up a 20 point lead. Also, Brian Cook had a pretty good game stat wise

is it possible the Lakers are the worst cllosing team in the league? They dont know how to keep a lead and their defense is probably the biggest problem to all the runs the other teams make.

They allow teams back in the game, because they can't stop the pick and roll. The Kings must have run the same play 20 straight times and the Lakers could not figure it out. Bibby is deadly in the pick and roll when his jumpshot is on, and last night he was locked in.

The offense really struggled when Kobe went to the bench. The bench players were settling for perimeter shots late against the shot clock. Radman actually shot one ball from the left side of the floor and it went off the rightside of the backboard. Barkley said it best, "uh, that's a REALLLY bad shot, what's Phil call him a space cadet?"

The team is still young, so they freeze up when the opposing teams make a run. Brian Cook passed up some wide open looks and as did Sasha. The role players then try to do things with the basketball they can't do. For example, Brian Cook tried to make a no look pass inside the post, then he tried to take his man off the dribble, pump fake, and just barely grazed the rim. Stupid plays like this allow teams to cut the leads down.

What a game last night. I saw the end of the first half through the rest of the game. Officiating was terrible. Kobe got screwed on a couple of no calls there at the end of the game, and personally, I didn't like the dead ball foul. It wasn't affecting anything whatsoever, so why call it? I don't care that it's a rule. If that would have been how the game was decided, I would have been pissed. I don't like the fact that the officials could have ended up deciding the game with that call, even if it was the right call. If they're gonna screw the Lakers, do the same to the Kings so it's a little more fair.

As for the game, I personally can't believe Corliss Williamson missed that shot near the end of OT. I thought that was certainly going in. Didn't understand why Kevin Martin dunked instead of pulling up for a trey, which is what they needed. Kings shot themselves in the foot with those two mistakes. Kobe dominated this one though. Nearly got a triple double and hit some huge shots down the stretch. Also, that was a great find on Smush, but also a great cut on Smush's part. He made the perfect read of the defense for the layup.

All in all, the Lakers had their moments. At times they looked great, at times they looked horrible. It all worked out in the end though. I can't believe they sent the game to OT personally, and I think I'm even more shocked that they blew the game and still managed to win. Oh well, a W is a W, and I'm gonna take it, especially on the road at a difficult place to get a victory.

Question. I remember a while back you posted that the reason why the Lakers aren't good at defending the pick and roll was because they don't practice it at practice. So why don't they practice if it's their weakest link? [IMG]

I can't answer the question. In the past the Lakers would form a wall to seal off the guard and prevent him from getting to the basket. I don't know if you remember a few seasons ago, when Tony Parker was killing us in the Lakers vs. Spurs playoff series? The first two games Parker was getting to the rim at will in the pick and roll. PJax made an adjustment and had his 3 frontcourt players form a straight line to the rim. The first time Parker went to the rim he was fouled HARD and ended up on his back. The Lakers sent a message he wasn't going to get any more uncontested layups. The rest of the series Parker started settling for jumpshots (back then he couldn't shoot) and the Lakers took the series.

However, this strategy only works when the guard or forward aren't good shooters. Besides, the Lakers frontcourt doesn't do a good job of holding the line and creating the wall. Our defensive rotations are terrible, and a lot of that has to do with the fact these guys haven't played with each other enough. They don't know each other's tendencies so they're always a step too, slow. There were a few plays last night were Bynum should have been there to block soft layups. One I spefically remember was Ron Artest putting up an out of control left handed layup, Bynum should have spiked it right back at Artest, but he wasn't in the proper position to block the shot.

Yeah, I think I remember that series. It seems like we've always had some problems with point guards. Anyways, what I don't understand is how we can be so horrible at defending the pick and roll. If you look around at the league, I don't think anyone has our problem. Seeing how smart Phil Jackson is, I'm surprised he hasn't been able to figure out a plan

I'm glad the Lakers one because they were playing agains the Kings and the REFS...unbelievable calls the refs were making. There was a play in the fourth were Bibby drives to the basket Jumps into Bynum and the refs calls the foul. How can you call a foul on an offensive player that jums into the defensive player? What can a defensive player do in that case? Vanish? BS. And then when Kobe drives down and gets hacked body and arm and the refs dont call s**t. I was so furious i kicked the laundry basket and broke it. So many ticky tac fouls and that is the problem with the NBA now. The refs dont let the players play and its frustrating seeing teams go to the line 40/50 times per game. The NBA is becoming like an AND 1 league becuase teams are no longer allowed to play aggressive defense.
