<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Sonics had been waiting for today to clear some roster space and potentially add some pieces that could spark a postseason run. The club requested waivers on guard Desmon Farmer and center Andreas Glyniadakis on Thursday, trimming the roster to 13 players and giving the Sonics a chance to sign perhaps two players to 10-day contracts. One of those 10-day contracts could be offered to former All-Star Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway, who worked out for Sonics coach Bob Hill on Dec. 18 and impressed club officials with his conditioning and mobility. He is nearly five years removed from microfracture surgery on his right knee and has been impressive in workouts in Houston.</div> Source
I have heard we may package Petro and Wilkins for some frontcourt help too, though unconfirmed obviously.
I wonder who the other party is in the rumored Wilkins and Petro deal. If Wilkins is gone, you guys think Gelabale will get the start in Lewis' absense? I'm not a fan of having Allen at the 3 and Watson at 2 to start the game. Maybe Hill puts Penny in at the 3. You never know with Bob Hill.
We aren't trading Petro when our only options at center are Danny, Nick, and Mo. Any deal that we do with Petro is going to be done after the season. The only player on our team w/ significant value is Rashard Lewis. For a team that seems to be out of the playoff race it doesn't make a lot of sense to pick up a player that is a decade past his prime. Penny Hardaway isn't the solution to any of our problems. I guess the next player we are going to work out is Detlef.
Hardaway is washed up and has two shot knees so I would be surprised if he played any sort of significant minutes. I would distribute the available minutes amongst the young players, instead of a what, 35-year old?
