<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It was just over one week and 84 points ago when Ben Gordon was asked if this is the best scoring streak he has ever had. ''I don't know,'' said Gordon after he had dropped 40 on the Miami Heat on Dec. 27. ''I'd have to think about it.'' He hasn't really thought about it even now, even though the streak of 20-plus-point games has reached nine as the Bulls head to New Jersey tonight. ''I'm just focused on going out there and trying to play well every game,'' said Gordon, who Tuesday scored a career-high 41 against the Phoenix Suns. 'I'm not really concerned about the points. They are showing I'm doing a good job of being aggressive every game. I think that focus is something that's helped me play well.'' Gordon has played well enough to draw praise from former Bulls guard Steve Kerr, who wrote in his current column on yahoo.com: ''He may not be an MVP candidate, but Bulls sixth man Ben Gordon is making a serious push for a spot in the All-Star Game next month. Gordon may have the best combination of deep shooting range and penetration ability in the league. No one can stay in front of him, particularly on his dribble hesitation move, which is unbelievably deceptive.'' Bulls coach Scott Skiles said that inside-outside threat is a combination few players possess. ''I'm trying to think of players right now -- it's hard,'' Skiles said after practice Thursday. ''As good as [Allen] Iverson is at that, he's not the percentage three-point shooter. He normally doesn't go out that deep, because he doesn't have to. That's a part of Ben's game that makes it very difficult; if you don't respect that three-point line, he's going to make it. And if you do, he's going to drive it. ''He's become almost like he was for a long stretch his rookie year -- last year got away from him a little bit -- he's very adept at drawing fouls now. And his free-throw percentage is back up.''</div> Source
Ben gordon IMO should be the starting PG when he and Thabo and deng play together the bulls seem unstoppable. the bulls should never break up deng and Ben because they will become the leagues most productive duo in a year or two. Go Bulls!!!

Yeah, not point.. sometimes he throws horrible passes into the lane and they just get tipped and stolen. He needs to work on that.
Ben Gordon is most definitely not a point guard. He's gotten better with his ball handling issues since coming into the league, but he's not the point. Hinrich is, and will be for a long, long time to come.
I like the role Ben Gordon is playing now, coming off the bench and lighting people up with his offense. He's playing All-Star level basketball right now, and should continue to excel in his role off the bench. He's having a career year and his team is winning, there's absolutely no reason to change anything.
Gordon is definitely a phenomenal scorer, but he needs to diversify his game up, because if he's having a bad shooting game then he's basically useless. He is capable of finding the open man, but needs to do a better job distributing sometimes. His defense is also lacking, especially for someone who possesses good quickness. Other than that, he's been very good for Chicago this season, especially coming through in the clutch so many times. Btw, who's the highest bench scorer of all-time? I don't remember a time when somenoe averaged 20 points off the bench.

I'll have to verify. I think Gordon has diversified his game. He's a lot better at getting to the rim now, and he's making a living at the FT line. The next progression for him will be becoming a better distributor, and like you mentioned becoming a better defender. He's still young and this is only his 3rd season in the league? By estimation he's ahead of schedule, by his 5th year he'll be drawing comparisons to Ray Allen and other premiere shooters in the league. EDIT: Eddie Johnson averaged 21.5 PPG off the bench for the Phoenix Suns in 1998-99. Ricky Pierce averaged 23.0 PPG off the bench for the Milwaukee Bucks in 1989-90.
One thing I hate about Gordon is his poor shot selection coming down the stretch. Of course he has incredible talent, and can put the ball in the whole. However, throwing up a three pointer with a hand in your face several steps behind the three point line is not a good shot. He tries to force to much on the offensive end.

Its just not talked about much because they are not in the spotlight like Ben is at this moment. Bens ability to hit the 3 mid range shot and drive/ drawfouls has drawn alot of attention to him this year and if we dont keep him somone will take him. I can see him becoming a gilbert arenas type player in a year or 2. Once ben finetunes his game he will be a top guard in the league.

However, he needs to learn to make better choices instead of jacking up poor percentage shots. He is trying to hard to be that "go to guy" he needs to just let the game come to him.
