<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Milwaukee Bucks are a much better team of late for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that Mo Williams has developed into a scoring point guard. In fact, with Williams and Michael Redd, the Bucks have the highest-scoring backcourt in the league with a combined average of 45.6 points per game.

But that is not the most astonishing statistic as it relates to Williams and Redd.

The most remarkable thing about the Bucks' explosive backcourt is that Williams and Redd were second-round draft picks, the so-called second-class citizens of the league, afterthoughts to the point that they weren't given much of a chance to make a National Basketball Association roster, much less become an all-star like Redd.

No other team in the league can say it has an all-second-round starting backcourt, but the Bucks take it a step beyond. Nine of the 14 players on their current roster are second-rounders, by far the NBA's highest percentage. The league average on opening day was about three second-round players per team.

Besides Redd and Williams, Steve Blake, Dan Gadzuric, Ersan Ilyasova, Damir Markota, David Noel, Ruben Patterson and Bobby Simmons were drafted in the second round. Charlie Bell and Lynn Greer were not drafted at all. That leaves only Andrew Bogut, Charlie Villanueva and Brian Skinner as first-round picks.</div>

This has to be a unique situation. I don't remember any team having this many 2nd rounders on their roster.

I'm still astonished to this day that Redd was drafted in the second round. I remember the year his draft came up I was sitting around with pen and paper in hand and then his name came up. I said to myself, "Holy hell, how is this man so low? I figured he wasn't even attempting to get into the league since his name didn't even show in the top ten!" So be he was drafted so low and it worked out for the Bucks ten fold. I even called the man that night to outweigh his potential as seen by the league teams that let him drop so low. Now look where he is today.

Makes a Bucks fan a little frustrated that we couldn't hit on a couple more of our first rounders LOL [IMG]

We've had a pretty good run of 2nd round guys in Gadz, Redd and Bell. But we also have gotten some of the others via smart trades and free agency, so it's not like Harris has hit on every 2nd rounder in his tenure. It is worth noting, though, that all of them are still young and improving.
