I read on another forum that new jersey is looking to win now and almost everyone is available. We could really use a player like Jason Kidd and I might be biased because he is one of my favorite players BUT before all these trade rumors go around and such with New Jersey, I want to dedicate this thread to stop future threads about potential deals. Fact #1: IF we acquired Vince Carter, chemistry issues might be in trouble and we can't have that no matter what the upside could be because there is not enough basketballs to go around for Yao, Tmac, and Vince Fact #2: RJ is young and New jersey will not let him go without some big bait Fact#3: most rockets fans are not interested in getting any other player new jersey has so thus..... I HAVE FOCUSED ON JASON KIDD the only possible way we can get Jason Kidd is through a three team trade because we do not have enough assets to get him by ourselves. Key: (Team the player is going to) Clippers Lose: Corey Maggette(NJ) Shaun Livingston(NJ) New jersey loses: Jason Kidd(Houston) Bostajin Nachbar(Houston) Houston loses: Rafer Alston(Clippers) Juwan Howard(clippers) Bonzi Wells(clippers) Bob Sura(NJ) Note: This is the only possible way this trade could go through because only way salaries match. This is a miracle trade because Sura is retiring and I sent him to New jersey because they need cap room to semi rebuild on. You can make the arguement that we give up to much and that this trade is unfair but it all depends on the impact each player has. Purpose of this thread again: To prevent future New jersey trade rumors with Houston. thank u
Well, if you want my honest opinion on this, I think this deal is a dream. The Clippers are very intent on building around Livingston and there's no reason they'd trade him for essentially Alston and Howard, who would both come off the bench. Maggette also has more value than Wells. They'll have no reason to even consider this deal. New Jersey sure wins in this deal; getting rid of a large, long binding contract for some big time potential and immediate help. The Rockets will sure look better on paper, but we'll be losing depth at power forward and small forward, for an aging point guard whose contract combined with Yao's and Tracy's will by themselves take up the salary cap. How much manuevering room will we have in the future, especially when the contracts nearly all go into the next decade?
How about Shane Battier and Juwan Howard for Richard Jefferson? or Rafer Alston, Juwan Howard, and Bonzi Wells for Andre Miller and Greg Buckner
I wouldn't do the trade. Alston and McGrady are getting it done at the 1 and 2 spot. I think Kidd is almost done.
You just said NJ is looking to win now... Later in your post you said they want Sura's expiring contract to rebuild on... You just contradicted yourself...
<div class="quote_poster">igotask8board Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">How about Shane Battier and Juwan Howard for Richard Jefferson? or Rafer Alston, Juwan Howard, and Bonzi Wells for Andre Miller and Greg Buckner</div> Our depth at PF is weak as it is. We can't afford to give up Juwan Howard and not get a solid PF in return.
IF anything the only guy on NJ that we should be looking at is Vince Carter. Not jason kidd because he is running on the last few drops of gas in his tanks. RJ is their untradable. Vince Carter because he has fallen out of favour in NJ and they are willing to trade him. You add in the fact that him and Mcgrady both have publically stated that they regret not staying together in Toronto and form a dynasty there. Why not give them a fresh start and a chance to start over. My proposal TO NEW JERSEY: Juwan Howard(they have shown interest.) Bonzi Wells(A little downgrade from carter scoring wise but plays better defence but a risk because has not played much.) 2009 First Round Draft pick. To Houston: Vince Carter(Another player for the now.) Post trade Line Up-Full Strength C-Yao Ming PF-Shane Battier SF-Vince Carter SG-Tracy Mcgrady PG-Rafer Alston since they all say they want to win and don't mind giving up the ball this is a good chance to prove it. What y'all think?

What y'all think?</div> Once again, CAP! Carter could be out of a contract after this season and the Rockets will have no chance of re-signing him, unless he's willing to take the MLE. Besides, there's no way the Nets will settle for that little as well. They might have some interest in Howard, but no one's thinking he's an All-Star here.
<div class="quote_poster">fitch4delk00 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">^^ I dont think Vince and Tmac would work together, but I could be wrong.</div> You realize that they are cousins . I'm pretty sure they can get along.
yea.. That doesnt mean they could work together though because they both need to control the ball to score.

If what TMac was saying early on in the season of him "being a playmaker" when he was struggling was right, then when Yao gets back and if Carter gets here, he'll be averaging 10 points a game. I'll rather take this 30+ PPG beast over a "playmaker" shooting 3-11 anyday.
Not a trade suggestion, but I read that the Sixers are trying to buyout Webber's contract. Might the Rockets be interested in signing him cheap for some extra help at PF? Personally, I don't think it would be a great acquisition. He's still a pretty good rebounder, he's capable of playing long minutes, and he's a great passer. But he doesn't provide much inside presence anymore and he's a terrible defender. Just throwing that out there.
Webber might not be a bad idea and will probably be an upgrade over Howard anyhow, and he could come cheap seeing as how he's probably wanting a championship. I'm really liking the idea of him camping out on top of the key, stretching the defense for Yao with his shot, and also able to spot cutters. However, he does come with some baggage, not to mention a balky knee. Too many intangibles for us to take the risk IMO.
Yeah, agree with Trip and Durvasa on the Webber call. As a Sixers fan, I know just how much can come with him. From the past couple seasons, he's bitched and moaned about getting the ball, has been a distraction in the locker room, and shot the ball ineffectively. However, in the general scope, there's even more. Because of his bum knee, he can't really defend, hustle for loose balls, or run the floor well. On the other hand, offensively he's still pretty good. He's got a nice midrange shot (although it annoys me to hell with his technique and inconsistency), finds open cutters, and makes it hard for the other team to doube team the star (Allen Iverson at the time). Like Trip said, he's still good at rebounding, but to me, considering the amount of minutes he's getting, it leaves something to be desired. Webber is not someone I'd like to go to the Rockets at all. He's a slight upgrade over Howard, but considering the risks he's going to bring us (piss poor defense, possibility of bitchin), its not worth it.
Webber is allergic to defense, which means he'd spend more time on the bench than on the court. I know Webber talks about winning a title, but he wants to play a major role in winning one.
Screw Webber. He's just after money. I can't believe the NBA hasn't banned him from the league yet. I think Juwan would want to kick his ass after what he did in Michigan.
When NY buys out Francis, sign him with the trade exception for the remainder of the season (I think Houston has a 4.2 million TE still). If it doesn't work out, then no biggie. Coming back to Houston might rejuvenate his career?
A question: If Francis comes to Houston, do you guys think he'll be able to make the All-Star team as a starter?
