Yeah forget what I said about Mike Miller killing us last game, now it's Ray Allen. Let's pray Chris Wilcox or Petro don't turn into scorers in the paint. It's nervous time, but at least the Warriors were attacking. It's just too bad they lost so many points at the free throw line. 2 offensive rebounds in a row. nice! but Barnes has to stop shooting threes, he's ice cold
Here's where we need someone to step up big. Need a go to guy. I'd give Monta a chance. He's hit some big shots already. And with the way the W's are playing, I don't want to go into OT.
1 point lead, 34 seconds left, Warrior ball.... Barnes with a great move... and Collison goal tends it!!! Warriors by three, Sonics ball 20 seconds.... Quadruple-team Ray Allen! He misses... Watson misses... Beans blocks Wilcox.... WARRIORS WIN! And........ back into the 8th seed!!!!!!
Man what an idiot move by Nick Collison. Thanks Nick! let's see allen will hit a three I think. ha! jinxed him. Warriors will miss both free throws. Yeay! PIetrus hit one! He didn't miss both free throws! damn I rule!
Good to see the Warriors win a close one. I love how Pietrus pumps up the crowd and thrives off of them...
WE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! It was FUGLY, but I'll take the win and Monta coming back
We are lucky to win this game. Nice to see coach give Ike a little love. Ike made the most of it too... Welcome back Monta!
<div class="quote_poster">AlleyOop Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Nice win, but damn Warriors SUCK at shooting free throws.</div> Yeah, if the W's played well and made their FTs like an NBA team is suppose to, they would've won going away.
Yeah, it was an ugly game, it was frustrating to watch, but then they were doing some good things, so we had to see the glass half full this time around. At least they didn't settle for that many three point attempts. Only one making such dumbass shots was, I think, matt Barnes. There's not much impact when a guy is 1 for 8 from the three point land and isn't driving the ball or looking to get fouled. At times it was just Baron, Pietrus, Ellis looking to attack. Maybe if they also put in Ike we'd soften up their defenses a little more by getting their key personnel in big foul trouble. We're just lucky that Ray Allen had five on him. So did Ridnour. Those guys were already pretty soft to begin with, but maybe they didn't want to get caught on a drive or reaching in for their 6th! What I'm saying is the Sonics lost a lot of their ability to go inside and defend because so many guys had bad foul trouble. And guys were making good hustle plays on top of that aggressivenss going towards the hoop.
Yeah, I didn't complain about Barnes during the game but was thinking it. Thought he may get hot and come back. He did hit a big 3 in the 4Q or was it a 2? Edit: Oops it was a layup with a feed from Baron.
I can't remember all the posessions, but Barnes was chucking and just missing everything he put up except for one shot. And then the shots he wasn't settling on for threes, like his deep two, didn't connect. But he finally made a layup when he cut baseline. Bad game for him, but man I wish he wouldn't settle for so many threes.
Barnes is hitting a career best 46% from 3-pt land. Anybody who can hit 40%+ from there should get a green light. Still, he hasn't been consistent. With more regular PT we should be able to figure him out or he figures himself out.
But if Barnes is playing like a 20% free throw shooter that game he should look for another shot. Pietrus tonight proved that by stepping in and he made a wide open jumper from 20 feet.
I suppose coming back from a shoulder injury won't help Monta's FT shooting, which was obvious from tonight's game. I am happy the Warriors won. I saw bits of the game between the NFL playoff game in the first half and playing some intense ping-pong with some friends in the second half. So I don't have so much analysis besides being happy that the Warriors won. However I do wonder about Luke Ridnour. I think he would be a fun PG for this team and Don Nelson. Obviously the Sonics coach might be a little down on him since he was benched. I wonder what his stock may be like if this continues and whether the Warriors look for his services, especially in the Warriors' case if someone like Jason Richardson or Monta Ellis is dealt for someone like Jermaine O'Neal. I wouldn't say that Luke would take this team to the next level, but he would be pretty fun to watch I think. He might have some Steve Nash in him, where Baron has Tim Hardway in him. Ok, I am getting carried away, but just a thought that came up earlier in the season but also this game especially since he was benched.
Lol -- the ESPN Headline reads: "Allen pours in 38 points as the Sonics dump Warriors" http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=270106009 apparently the Warriors are hated on even when they win! edit: Okay, now they fixed it.
