History of the Toronto based franchises. The Raptors weren't the first ones in town. The Huskies are actually one of the first two teams in history (along with the NY Knicks) to ever play an NBA game. The team performed well, but the franchise folded quickly and now the city has the Raptors since 1995. The current franchise has the most alternate logos of any other in the league in such short time. "The team still searches for a permanent identity." -- Richard Peddie (CEO Maple Leafs Sports) The team found that change for indentity by replacing their old emblem with one of their alternates created in 1996. 1946 - 1947 1995 - 2006 Alternate logo from 1996 - 2006, current main emblem Alternate logo since 2004 Alternate logo since 1996

Maybe the team lacks a permanent identity, because you tried to cash in on a fad. They named them the Raptors, because of the popularity of Jurassic Park, but the crappy sequels pretty much ruined that. Nevertheless, I love our current logo.
I like the Raps logos. I want to see the retro original Jerseys again. I don't think we'll be seeing much of the Huskies.

It is sad however that the team tried to cash in on the Jurassic Park trend. I was originally expecting the Huskies to return at the time and I didn't know what to think about the Grizzlies.
