Not only should the Lakers reach a high seed in the playoffs but Kobe 'Should', i repeat not COULD but SHOULD, get the MVP... why?

Then why did Nash get it 2 times?
Because he made his team mates better and make them average career numbers
Because he led his team deep in the playoffs

    Then Why Kobe?
Read the reason why Nash became the 2 time MVP
The Difference is instead of Amare kobe has Kwame, instead of Diaw kobe has Luke, Instead of Marion Kobe has Lamar, Instead of Bell kobe has Vujacic, and so on and so forth...

So if the Lakers play this way and reach the playoffs and Kobe AGAIN does not get the MVP then the NBA would be robbing him again.

Please no more MVP talk until the season comes to a close. I can see this thread spiraling into a 15 page thread on why Kobe is selfish etc... etc....

No way. I dont have enough time to quote you and debate my point. But, Nash is having an even better season than last year and he deserves the MVP, yet again. To be honest, I didn't want Nash to win another one, I'd rather it go to a more athletic and high-flying player like LBJ, Wade, or Kobe. But after I watched couple of Suns game, Nash has so much trust in his teammates, its just amazing... the power of teamwork. After watching those games and keeping up with Suns. I came to a conclusion, no matter how much they are down by, Suns are NEVER out. Nash can make the BIG pass, or the BIG shot. Not only does he have great trust/apg average/teamwork but also the deadly range and great accuracy in his shot.

Not the average muscular-high-flying player, but such a valueable player.

How could you not trust AMare Stoudemire or Shawn Marion? Or even Bell or Barbosa? Not to take away anything from the current MVP but let him try and TRUST Smush, Turiaf, Kwame, Walton, Sasha

Just a thought, but does anyone ever go to think that the reason why people like Raja Bell and James Jones and Boris Diaw all succeed is because of the system they're in? No one ever gives that any credit, it's all Nash. To me, it's mostly the system. Anyone can succeed in a system that's run and gun all day long. Just look at Q. The system hides some players flaws (like the fact Diaw has no real position and isn't really great at anything, or the fact that Bell is just a shooter and nothing more) while it makes other players talents come out even more, like Nash's. So, I'm not going to take credit from Nash in this situation, cause he is a pretty big reason, but the system has just as much to do with some of the players success as well.

And as for Kobe being the MVP, I don't know why not. He's been one of the best players in the league all season. His APG are up from last year, FG%, pretty much everything but scoring. He's also on a team with FAR less talent than the Suns and a team that has been injury riddled all season. I don't see why not.

If Kobe and the team continues to play like this when Odom and Kwame return, then yes Kobe will win MVP ... FINALS MVP!

Well on the other hand, you guys attribute all the Lakers success to Kobe and none to Phil Jackson and the system HE runs. We're talking about the best coach of all time running probably the most effective system of all time compared to Mike D'Antoni and a run-and-gun system that more and more teams are trying to run (unsuccessfully because they lack the most vital part of the system-Nash).

    Fine how's this...

Coach of the Year - Phil Jackson
    MVP - Kobe Bryant
    MIP - Luke Walton

The Suns are having a great season, but they are 0-6 against the top tier teams in the league. Top tier meaning teams with a winning % of .650+

I give credit to Phil. He's getting the most he can out of this team and has done a brilliant job coaching this season. But how can you not give a lot of credit to Kobe? He's been brilliant. Let's see Nash lose Amare and Marion and see what happens. Kobe has lost his two best players, yet they're still finding ways to win. And considering how young and inexperienced this team is, that says a whole lot about him. I'll say it, Nash has been brilliant again this year. But, Kobe has been better. He's got the Lakers playing fantastic basketball this year. He's doing it with far less talent than Nash. And, he's doing it despite losing their second best player in Odom, their best big man in Kwame, and despite still recovering from offseason knee surgery. Lets see Nash go through all that.

That's comical, Nash has his system also; and he wasn't much before he got placed in it, was he? The Triangle is ran about 30% of the entire game anyway; that doesn't seem comparable to the system set up in Phoenix (though, Phil Jackson is the best coach in the league; I was just merely pointing out that Bryant is not reliant on a system).

you're comical, i wasn't even talking about Nash, i like both players and saying he wasn't much when he "got placed" (more like his leadership and skills finally were given permission to assert themselves) - - he was probably a top 10 or top 15 pg in the league, it's not like he was averaging 2 assists a game.

I know you didn't bring up Nash; I brought him into the discussion because you sounded like a hypocrite. Nash has had career years in PHX, I wonder why. I also never said he wasn't a good pg, just never an MVP candidate.

lets just say they're both great individually and they also benefit from the people around them and leave it at that[IMG]
the best part is they might face each other again in the 07 playoffs - maybe in the 2nd round - and that will be a series to watch

Bottomline is everyone last year mentioned the reason Kobe didnt win it was because the Lakers did not win enough games. The Lakers are on pace to win enough games don't you think? Kobe also has done what everyone said was impossible for him to do. Share the rock. Kobe haters will continue to come up with excuses for him not to win MVP, but I think he has just as good as a chance to do it this season as anyone else. Its still early but already people seem to lock the MVP award to Nash's name. Whats up with that?

Let the rest of the season do the talking. All I know is my man Kobe is having one of the best seasons of his career, has become a leader for the Laker squad, and is winning games against the ELITE teams in the NBA. That says so much about the growth of Kobe and this Laker team.

The Lakers are going to be scary come playoff time. You think that 3-1 scare last year against the Suns what big? I believe this year the boys will make even more noise.

While Nash is having a great year, the suns didn't start winning till Amare started showing up. Look at the box scores and the the Win column, it all corresponds.

When Amare got healthy = they went on their huge run.

Without Amare lighting it up like they were, the suns pretty much sucked. (no offense)

The Suns have played 33 games, Amare has played 32.

If you are talking about the first 6 games of the season, where Amare only had 1 game where he played more than 25 minutes.

Games where Amare played less than 26 minutes:
Loss:They lost to a hot Utah team by 4 pts.
Loss:San Antonio by 5 pts in SA.
Loss:Clippers by 6 pts in LA.
    Win: Clippers by 8 pts.
    Win: Memphis by 9 pts.

The other game where Amare played 35 pts, the lost to Dallas by 7.

So although they went 2W-4L, it was against 3 of the best teams (SA, Dallas, Utah) in the West, and the losses were pretty close.
