<div class="quote_poster">MrJ Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I know a couple of lesbian girls who had some bad relationships with dudes. You know the usually... men are dogs, the sex was wack, etc. So, they decided to become lesbian. Experiences like those definitely contribute to someone's decision on whether to change their sexual orientation.

It's interesting, I was always under the belief gay isn't instinctive. My science teacher, who happens to be gay, also told me some animals are gay too. Anyway, I usually stay out of these types of discussions because they usually don't end up progressing. Whether or not you choose to live such a lifesetyle is a choice based on your beliefs and morals - something which don't change easily.

Personally, I feel homosexuality is nasty and I don't get down like that, but like the common expression says, to each his own.</div>
Correlation does not equal causation. Did you ever think that maybe they had crappy relationships because they were already gay?

Also, the people you choose to be attracted to has nothing to do with morals... at all.

How is it insulting to say it resulted from trauma? Because you're putting them in the same class as child molestors when you do that.

Good point by norespect, maybe their relationships didn't work out because they were gay to begin with.

You just proved my point. Nobody would chose those things, therefore it must be inside you. Some people are predisposed to likeing coke instead of pepsi, letterman over leno, and girls over guys, its not a consious choice.

Of all the gays I know, I don't think I met one that "chose" to be gay. Hell, I've had numerous conversations with one of my good friends (who is gay) about this, and he said that it's not a choice, but more something you're born with or into. I tend to agree with him. I don't think it's a choice. I don't see why people would simply "choose" to be gay, bi, etc. I think it's pretty much something your born with.

I wasen't trying to put words into your mouth, and please don't take this as a personal attack. I just don't understand how a person could think that homosexuality can be a choice. I see your opinion when it comes to a traumatic experience, but that must just act as a trigger to what the person has been denying all along. I doubt that anything could trigger me to become gay....but it is an interesting arguement.

That's freaking ridiculous. By your logic, these creeps should not be prosecuted because "they have no control overwhat they're doing"? By your logic these molesters shouldn't be held accountable for their actions because they are prediposed to it? BULLSH*T. Ultimately, we have our own minds and souls and we make our own decisions for ourselves, not some random gene whose potential to control sexual preference is merely speculation. I know quite a few gay people and they all talk in that same high, lispy voice. This isn't their natural voice, but they hear other gays talking in this manner and are trying to fit in. From what I've seen it's a choice that people make who are either:

A)Hanging around with the wrong group of people and are trying to fit in with the new trend (because now it's apparently hip to be gay).
    or
B)Suffered multiple setbacks in their relationships with the opposite sex, so they figure that they must be gay and make the choice.
    or
C)They have suffered a traumatic experience.

Don't even get me started on how wrong it is that gay couples are allowed to adopt kids let alone marry.

Wow, you are off the charts. How are you eqating being predisposed to liking someone of the same sex with being predisposed to molesting children. Gay people have an urge to be with the same sex, so they go ahead and do that. It isn't illegal, so why wouldn't they? Molesting a child is illegal, so if you can't stop your urges and act on them, then you go to jail....where is there a similarity. Its hip to be gay? Not really when you consider the bashing they go through, especially from ignoramisis like yourself. Gay couples adopting children can be debated forever, and I would only sit on the fence in that issure because they are directly effecting another person who dosen't have a choice, But whats the problem with gays marrying? Its their own personal life, why should you or anyone else dictate what they do on their own. I believe this is a free country, Canada and the states. And if you are american, you should know that every citizen has the right to LIFE, LIBERTY, and the PERSUIT OF HAPPINESS as described in the declaration of independence under "unalienable rights" of man.....I don't quite know where barring them from marrige fits in. Sh*t, while we are at it, lets not let whites marry blacks, Older marry young, etc. People like you have too much time on your hands or don't have enough problems of your own to worry about what gay couples are doing.

Because marriage is the union between a man and a woman. If they want to have their own ceremony declaring their love for eachother then that is fine, but it shouldn't be certified by the state, and they shouldn't get the tax benefits that come with marriage. Legally, marriage is between a man and woman.

Why should gay couples be allowed to adopt kids? They are bringing up the kid in a gay household without choice, and that's just not fair. The kid is going to be picked on in school, and living in that environment, they're probably going to turn out gay themselves.

I don't have time to respond to all of this, so I'll just say that you were the one who made the comparison between gays and molestors in the first place, saying "nobody would choose that." I found that pretty rediculous. Until they find proof of a gay gene, then who are you to tell me I'm wrong that it's a choice. You don't know and I don't know so its speculation.

This is what I wanted to see if you would say. It is simply not always correct, and I would imagine most often it's incorrect. I know four people who grew up in same-sex parent households, and all of them are totally normal heterosexual people. All of them get along well with their folks, at least from what I know. So why is it wrong that gay parents raise a child? I'd much rather see white supremacists neutered than gays banned from raising children. [IMG]

I'm wondering, would those people who are supportive of "gay marriages" be supportive of one man/woman married to 2 or more women/men? Assuming all parties involved wanted this?

<div class="quote_poster">XSV Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">By your logic these molesters shouldn't be held accountable for their actions because they are prediposed to it?</div>

Uh, no. Child molesters make a conscious decision to hurt another human being. Gay people having sex hurts nobody.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Why should gay couples be allowed to adopt kids? There have been plenty of studies saying homosexual parents can raise normal, healthy children. And there are plenty of heterosexual parents who are horrible. Just because this happens to make you say "ew" doesn't mean it's any different from the hundreds of thousands of problems a kid could have with heterosexual parents. And if a child of gay parents is picked on in school, that's a problem with the children who are doing the abusing, not the parents themselves.

Sure, why not? Just because I don't get it doesn't mean it's wrong.

Anyway, America's negative attitude towards gay people in general is just ridiculous. Who cares what people do in their own home if it's not hurting anybody? When the best you can do is point to the dictionary in trying to judge the rights of a human being, your logic is off by a whole hell of a lot.

Well, based on what they told me, there was a time when they were straight and decided to change their sexual orientation. Whether they were gay subconciously, I don't know - this is what they told me.
