Jason Williams (3 assists, 1 turnover), Michael Doleac (7 rebounds, 6 points) and Dorell Wright (12 points) also were more effective Sunday because they didn't have to carry as much of the offensive burden.

''It's good to get guys back at this point, especially Dwyane Wade,'' Doleac said.

``Nothing Wade does at this point surprises me anymore. He's just phenomenal.''

The Heat did not practice Monday, which gives Wade two days to rest his wrist before Wednesday's game in Seattle. Wade either was knocked down or fell on his own on six occasions against Portland. He said he used his left hand and arm to brace his falls.

Wade did not hesitate to attack the basket, but he did alter the way he finished at the rim to decrease the impact on his wrist. Twice, he finished with layups on what normally might have been dunks.

''It's not 100 percent, so I didn't want to try to do too much with it,'' Wade said. ``Even when I dunked, I tried to throw it in instead of dunking real hard. It felt all right.''

There has been no indication from the team as to when other reinforcements will return. The Heat still is without center Shaquille O'Neal and forwards James Posey and Antoine Walker.

Rothstein said Sunday he was not certain when or if O'Neal, Posey or Walker would join the trip, which reaches the midway point in Seattle.

Before he left last week to have surgery on his knee and hip, Heat coach and president Pat Riley said O'Neal would make the trip and begin practicing as part of the final stage of his recovery from Nov. 19 knee surgery. But that plan has changed without any explanation from the team in a week.

Posey and Walker were left behind because they did not meet the team's Jan. 1 conditioning guidelines and were 1 percent over Riley's mandate for body fat percentage.</div>
