New rules involving Touchdown celebrations is that a player can not leave there feet, group celebrations, or use props. Dancing and spiking the football is still allowed. I wish that NFL would concentrate on other topics other than TD celebrations.

the Lambeau Leap does require you to leave your feet, and one could argue that the crowd and stands are being used as a "Prop" in doing so....I dont think its there intention to eliminate it though....Id like to see an accross the board rule:

Individual Celebrations are not permitted....upon scoring, its the players responisiblity to find an official and give him the ball within 5 seconds....Choregraphed celebrations of any kind are not permitted....the penaties are as followed:

    Team Penalties
1st Violation of Season:Forfeiture of Point After Attempt

2nd Violation of Season:Forfeit of PAT and 15 yards on the kickoff

3rd Violation of Season:Forfeit of PAT, 15 yards on Kickoff, Ejection of players involved

4th Violation of the Season:Forfeit PAT, 15 on kickoff, Ejection of Players involved, 1 additional game suspended for each player that has violated the rule this season

5th Violation of the Season:Forfeiture of Game, Suspension of 1 Calender for players that have violated the rule this season, suspention of Head Coach for 1 Year

that ought to end the dancing real quick....

That is just not strict enough. What kind of pansy "dont spank your kids" policy is that supposed to be? Here is how you need to crack down:

1st Violation of Season:Forfeit of TD, Opposing team gets ball on its own 35, Ejection of players involved

2nd Violation of the Season:Forfeit TD, Opposing team gets ball on your 35, Ejection of Players involved, 3 additional game suspended for each player that has violated the rule this season.

3rd Violation of the Season:Forfeiture of Game, Suspension of 1 Calender year for players that have violated the rule this season, suspention of Head Coach for 1 Year, 1 year suspension for front office personell. 1 year suspension of owner from all team operations. The NFL will hire a team to temporaially run franchise in interim, all profits wil be paid to the united way during 1 year suspension.

4th Violation of the season: Forfeiture of all games for the season (retroactive to first game), Lifetime ban for players on 4th violation (lifetime of the league, not the player, dying will not allow them into HOF), NFL team running franchise will be fired and replaced. Commisionner and NFLPA head will both be required to resign. All ticket sales will be refunded to season ticket holders.

I saw the head of officials talking about this rule on the NFL Network. I don't recall hearing anyone say that you can't leave your feet. Jumping for joy is about as natural an expression as I can think of. In fact, it would be kind of funny to watch players try to keep from leaving their feet after a score. What I heard was that you can't go to the ground for a celebration. I did hear that the Lambeau Leap is not against the rules.

As an aside, this thread makes me hope that Beef and BF1 are never appointed to the Supreme Court. Yikes!

It sounds to me like Beef & BF1 are laying down the law NOT interpreting it like a good Supreme Court Justice should do.

While we're at it, why don't we suspend players for life who so much as look at a QB wrong?

Were both smart enough to know its not the role of a Judge to "legislate" from the bench....if we were elected as Judges on any level, that would bring the total number of judges, nationwide, that refuse to "legislate" from the bench to 2....

This is just stupid. I can understand not wanting Chad Johnson to bring a live deal on the field but what's the big deal if he fakes proposes to a cheerleader?

gayness at its finest.... the excessive celebration was past by a generation of old foggies who are offended by meer.... little wee bits of overexcitement... LETS BE SERIOUS GRRRRR.. lol its gone to far.... i always enjoy the antics. its just a game.. and yes some of the celebrations are annoying.... but most are funny aren't malicious or show any malice.... just ppl are offended.. by the simplist things... a sad SAD day for football fans who are amused by such acts...

Then what's the point of watching the Panthers/Bengals/and possibly Cowboys play when you don't have Steve Smith/Chad Johnson/and Owens dancing after a touchdown? They should fix the officiating than add more things for the referees to worry about.

Football, above all other games played on a professional level, is a team sport....it takes 11 men working as one to make progress....the point is that when you catch a TD and then "get your swurve on" its in an attempt to garner attention for yourself which is disrespectful to all the guys that just sacrificed thier butts to get you in that endzone....celebrate in genuine, spontaneous ways with your teammates and I will never question it....but pushing your lineman out of the shot so you can do a dance is over the top....if your actions are screaming, "LOOK AT ME!" then you have crossed the line....

If you are watching games for stupid dances, go watch dancing with the stars, you skirt wearing p***y. If you like to see football, then you wont mind watching to teams clash on the field of battle, and seeing a player after scoring, show respect to his teammates and opponents by handing the ball to the ref, and going to sideline and high 5ing his teammates, away from the camera.
