<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">BOSTON?Another day, another team interested in Morris Peterson. Two NBA sources confirmed yesterday the Detroit Pistons are trying to repatriate the Michigan native, calling to see if Raptor general manager Bryan Colangelo is interested in dealing Peterson back to his home state. That would bring the number of teams looking into Peterson to almost a dozen. It would be folly, however, to think Colangelo would make a lateral move involving the seven-year veteran, whose resurgent play of late has made him a key component of Toronto's second unit. "Several teams continue to call and inquire about certain players on our roster," Colangelo said yesterday as the Raptors prepared to meet Boston tonight. "While we are certainly looking to improve our basketball team and making those same calls, nothing has been suggested or discussed with any team to date that we are prepared to act on." Peterson is in the final year of a contract that pays him $4.55 million (U.S.) this season. </div> http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/170400 with the imminent signing of cwebb, i would assume that antonio mydyess is expendable. lets see... mo pete, kris humpries for antonio mydyess and carlos delfino.
Chris Webber hardly makes McDyess expendable. I doubt the Pistons would want to lose his rebounding and defensive presence.

Maybe Maxiell as he seems to have decent potential. Having Delfino on our roster sounds awsome (might as well go all international). The other guy who seems to be coming up in this rumour is Ronald Murray.
Actually, I really wouldn't mind Ronald Murray. I think he provides the shooting and scoring that we've needed all season and could definitely be a 2nd scorer to Bosh. The only problem is he has the option of opting out of his contract and I don't know if he'd want to stay in Toronto.
<div class="quote_poster">Chutney Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Chris Webber hardly makes McDyess expendable. So from a Pistons standpoint I'm assuming they are doing this for 2 reasons: 1) to get Mopete off the bench to suck up some minutes for the rest of the season 2) Clear salary for next year. So from looking at salaries if Ronald Murray's option next year is for 1.9 M, is he likely to take it from a financial standpoint? From what I've seen of Murray I'd say he's worth more than this but at the same time I don't know his game all that well so i could be wrong. So if he's opting out of his deal, I think detroit will probably retain him if at all possible to clear salary. Personally I like the idea of having Delfino, considering we're not getting past the first round this year we might as well have some guys with good potential. He's got athleticism and is a streaky shooter. http://youtube.com/watch?v=G93ld0bIUKc

Rasheed because both he and Webber are offensive oriented PF's who settle for the jumpshot a lot. Maxiell, because he's still young and they can afford to cut his minutes, knowing that he'll make a bigger impact down the road. McDyess' value for that team increased significantly with the departure of Ben Wallace. He's not untouchable, but I see the Pistons being hesitant to lean that heavily on Mohammed and Maxiell.
I doubt Rasheed's minutes will drop. They need his defensive presence in the post badly. Wouldn't the Pistons just play Rasheed at center and CWebb at PF?

Delfino is going nowhere. Same with Maxiell. Pistons are also trying to get Bonzi Wells, they clearly want Mo Pete or Bonzi at this stage.

It'll be interesting to see what BC can get for Mopete considering the number of teams enquiring. This trade works but I'm not sure if i care for it, personally I'll take mopete for the rest of the year as opposed to an over the hill big and flip murray. Detroit Trade Breakdown Outgoing Dale Davis 6-11 C from Clemson 1.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.3 apg in 10.9 minutes Ronald Murray 6-3 SG from Shaw 6.7 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.2 apg in 21.0 minutes Incoming Morris Peterson 6-7 SF from Michigan State 11.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 25.6 minutes Change in team outlook: +3.0 ppg, -0.7 rpg, and -1.4 apg. Toronto Trade Breakdown Outgoing Morris Peterson 6-7 SF from Michigan State 11.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 25.6 minutes Incoming Dale Davis 6-11 C from Clemson 1.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.3 apg in 10.9 minutes Ronald Murray 6-3 SG from Shaw 6.7 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.2 apg in 21.0 minutes Change in team outlook: -3.0 ppg, +0.7 rpg, and +1.4 apg. Successful Scenario Due to Detroit being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Detroit had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Why do you think Mo Evans was traded for basically nothing? to clear up minutes for Delfino. The kid has the abilty and should not be moved.

<div class="quote_poster">deception Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">two questions: why did they acquire flip if they believed in him? and, why bring in mo pete if delfino is a prized asset within the organization?</div> Pistons needed some kind of scoring threat and a spark off the bench and with they could afford and who was available Flip at the time was a good signing. He has failed to live up to expections. Mo Pete would be needed to bring the scoring Flip has failed to deliver on. Delfino may not be as consistant as he could be but he is a young talent and you don't just let those go unless you don't expect him to live up to his potenial. This season he has showed what he can do. Bringing in Mo wouldn't hurt his development too much. That said I think It's more likely that Bonzi comes to Detroit than Mo Pete.
I don't understand why Flip has been dogged so much by Pistons fans. Has he been consistently productive? No. But how many other combo guards would be playing behind Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton. If you haven't noticed Flip Saunders has no problem playing them 40 minutes a piece. In Chauncey Billups absence Flip has shown the ability to not only get his teammates involved but also score the ball when needed. He has regressed considerably since 2003-2004 but I think that it is more a byproduct of not knowing his role than it is his playing ability. If he were dealt to a team that needed a combo guard and you could pen him in for 30+ minutes a night he would put up starter numbers. The kid has talent and toughness but what he doesn't have is consistency. Once a coach believes enough in him to allow him to showcase his talents you will be surprised by his production.
Hmm.. interesting. As much as I like Peterson on the Raptors, a deal like what a13x proposed for Flip Murray and Dale Davis is tempting. Peterson has been with the Raptors for so long, but with Smitch coaching, I don't think he's going to be getting the minutes that he used to get. What I'd much rather see though is Fred Jones getting traded. But that's unlikely right now. We'll just have to see how this whole thing pans out.
If Maxiell and Delfino was both offered for Morris Peterson, i'd take that in a heart beat.. Both are young and have good potential..
