confirmation that i'm a genius!!! <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Toronto played 12 games without Chris Bosh, but with the Raptors close to being 100% healthy, they are looking to bolster their lineup. Detroit and Toronto have talked about a deal that would involve Dale Davis and Flip Murray heading to Canada in exchange for Morris Peterson. The Raptors would rather have Antonio McDyess, but Detroit isn't prepared to trade the former Knick. </div> http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketba...5p-411303c.html
I think AllNet was the first to say the Pistons were offering Dale Davis and Ronald Murray for Mo Pete.

I'm the one who said Detroit wouldn't be willing to trade away McDyess so easily, even after the Webber signing. If Dale Davis is an expiring contract, I wouldn't mind this deal.

<div class="quote_poster">Iron Shiek Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I don't understand why Flip has been dogged so much by Pistons fans. Has he been consistently productive? No. But how many other combo guards would be playing behind Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton. If you haven't noticed Flip Saunders has no problem playing them 40 minutes a piece. In Chauncey Billups absence Flip has shown the ability to not only get his teammates involved but also score the ball when needed. He has regressed considerably since 2003-2004 but I think that it is more a byproduct of not knowing his role than it is his playing ability. If he were dealt to a team that needed a combo guard and you could pen him in for 30+ minutes a night he would put up starter numbers. The kid has talent and toughness but what he doesn't have is consistency. Once a coach believes enough in him to allow him to showcase his talents you will be surprised by his production.</div> I agree, I'm a fan of Flip and I hope he stays in Detroit.
i highly doubt it that colangelo will settle on anything det has (mcdyess..murray..etc) if mo is traded to the pistons..a third team will be involved..maggaete anyone?? raptors trade: Mo-> Pistons Humpries: Clippers Detroit trades Davis: Clippers Flip Murray: Clippers Clippers trade: Maggeate: Raptors Singleton: Pistons
^ Yea I was thinking about the same thing, which is why I asked the Pistons' forum how valuable he is. We would definitely have to throw in another piece.
<div class="quote_poster">XSV Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It looks like it could be MoPete for Nazr, with possible other pieces involved.</div> I would buy all you guys a round of beer for a month If that happened.
^So do you like this trade from a Piston standpoint? You guys get the back-up wing you need and we get a center. We don't need Mo and you guys don't need Nazr anymore.
Spurs exploring trades for Maggette, Peterson <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The San Antonio Spurs, just off their first three-game losing streak since the 2004-2005 season, are looking into making a trade and have inquired about Toronto Raptors forward Morris Peterson, and are talking with the Los Angeles Clippers about Corey Maggette.</div> Source
<div class="quote_poster">XSV Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It looks like it could be MoPete for Nazr, with possible other pieces involved.</div> Is there a source on this one? I really hope this isn't the case. Colangelo so far has kept the majority of the contracts within a certain range, his deal is long. I really don't want to be talking about Nazr as the next Hakeem for the raptors (in terms of salary impact)
<div class="quote_poster">Iron Shiek Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I don't understand why Flip has been dogged so much by Pistons fans.</div> It's because he doesnt want to be there, he's said he doesnt want a bench role, he wants to be starting, and that he isnt happy with his current role in Detroit (when Chauncey is healthy).
<div class="quote_poster">XSV Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">^So do you like this trade from a Piston standpoint? You guys get the back-up wing you need and we get a center. We don't need Mo and you guys don't need Nazr anymore.</div> From a raptors satndpoint that it is highly debatable. I don't see us having a need for a back up centre at this point in time. Our front court rotation is set with Garbajosa, Rasho, Bosh and Bargnani all logging at least 20 minutes per game and up. Also aside from Rasho none of the players have a set position and the interchangebility of guys Bosh (C, PF) Garbajosa( C, PF, SF) and Bargnani (C, PF, SF) means that we don't need to pick up an avg. one dimensional back up centre because we have several players capable of playing that position. Lastly, contrary to your opinion that we don't need mo-pete i would argue that he has more value to this team than Nazr Mohammed would. Joey Graham is fast developing but too inconsistent to rely on and has more success playing Sf then Sg. Fred Jones is mired in a slump and appears out of synch with the rest of the team. While Garbo continues to start at SF he is usually the first player subbed out of the game (for Joey G or Mo-Pete) and tends to re-enter the game later on as a PF or sometimes a Centre. Essentially what im saying is i don't see the raptors having a capable back up SG as of now; if Fred Jones were to find his game than perhaps mo-pete becomes expendable. Lastly I would add that if Bryan Colangelo does make a move i hope he goes for young player with potential or a draft pick as opposed to adding a mediocre veteran player who might help us in the short term. Some intriguing prospects from teams* that may be interested in MO-Pete: Maybe Dorrell Wright(Heat) , Yaroslav Korolev (clippers), Ian Mahinmi (Spurs property playing for Pau Orthez), Rashard McCants (Timberwolves, *injured), Oleksiy Pecherov (Wizards property playing with Paris Basket Racing) and C.J Miles (Utah) would be interesting prospects. * when compiling this short list of prospects i look at teams who were rumoured to be interested in Mo Pete (Clippers, Pistons, Spurs) and Aging contending teams who could use a contributing player if they want to do damage in the playoffs (Heat, Utah, Timberwolves. Wizards). Also i ignored players on teams that are likely to compete with the Raptors for the final play-off spot (eg. Newyork, Orlando, Milwaukee, Indiana) and young teams who are unlikely to be willing to trade away their prospects ( Bobcats, Celtics, Hawks, Portland ect.... Lastly I igrnored teams that had no suitable prospects for the raptors to aquire.
The ideal situation here for me is, Nazr for Mo-Pete. I dont want to lose Flip or Dale Davis (even though I didnt mind losing DD earlier in the season)
<div class="quote_poster">NTC187 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">The ideal situation here for me is, Nazr for Mo-Pete.</div> Ideal for you, horrible for the Raptors. We'd be letting go of an expiring contract and taking on one that runs for 4 more years after this season.
You guys don't know what you are missing You would have a center rotation of Rasho/Nazr don't you know these two giants were rotating centers on a team that won an NBA title. OMG!!!!
