Now that conference play is just getting started, who do you all see as the Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final 4 and the championship game? Who are the favorites and who are some sleepers that we should look for to make some noise during conference play to move up the rankings?

I'd like to refrain from comment on this, because I've jinxed a half dozen teams already and I don't want to cause any more carnage [IMG]

I'll stick with my original picks, I know I said as sleepers I said Oregon and Nevada. Then I had Arizona, Florida, Pitt, and I forget the last team I picked, maybe it was Tennessee [IMG]

AKA Schaddy doesn't want to jinx his Badgers...

Anyway I'll do Final Four now: Wisconsin, North Carolina, Kansas, and I'm still high on Georgetown to sneak in there. Don't sleep on Syracuse either...

Yeah, but they just seem like a very tournament-quality team. Every year they're one team that was ranked towards the bottom of the top 25 that winds up making the Final Four. I think this year the Vols are that team.

They've got four losses, but three of them are to #1 UNC, #5 Ohio State, and #12 Butler, all on the road, and the other loss was to rival Vandy by one point on the road. Then looking at their wins, they beat #9 Oklahoma State, #25 Texas, and blew out #20 Memphis.

That kind of tough schedule will hurt them in the polls, but it will help them come tourny time.

Wow, how do you have that much faith in Zona the way they're playing defense lately? They let the other teams shoot 50% almost every game

McRoberts hasn't been as bad as Steele so far at least. Check out my pathetic preseason picks ([IMG]):

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"><font size=""1"">First Team
    G - Ron Steele (Alabama)
    G - Brandon Rush (Kansas)
    F - Alando Tucker (Wisconsin)
F - Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina)
    C - Aaron Gray (Pittsburgh)
    *

    * - If Greg Oden's injury doesn't keep him out more than a few games, he's my choice for the All-American team's center.

    Final Four
    Ohio State
    Kansas
    Florida
    Arizona</font></div>

The embolden parts are the parts I still agree with. 0 for 2 in the backcourt and only 1 for 4 in the Final Four, although, honestly I can still see the Jayhawks, Buckeyes, and Gators still making the Final Four. Those three picks weren't as far off as Steele and Rush were for the 1st Team.

And as for Arizona, they've lost a lot of games so far, but they've been well-played, close games against good teams. They've got the talent to go deep.

    Hey...

I only just joined this site...

    In reading that thread-link...

I was a little surprised that...back in early November...some posters had Oregon as a "sleeper" team...

I guess there are some people out there that pay attention to things...

Oregon's matured talent is now living up to their potential...

This is one of the best Oregon teams I've seen...And within' a stacked PAC-10...this looks to be an exciting year...

First off, welcome to JBB! [IMG]

Secondly, yeah, Oregon was a team we talked about all summer. The consensus was that they had one of the most talented teams in the league, but they hadn't played up to their potential or shown any chemistry to this point. As you said though, they're finally doing that now, and when we release our Week 10 rankings tomorrow, they'll be #3 in our poll. [IMG]

^ Last year we had Oregon, what, #24 in our preseason poll? They're showing all the talent and ability we've known that they had. Brooks is just an exciting guy, and he's really showing toughness and leadership late in games. I love Leunen's game. There's no limit to Oregon's ceiling this season.
