http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/football/14231387.htm On the radio last night, Randy Galloway said that Parcells will retire due to recent developments at Valley Ranch specifically related to TO. He states the three year union has come to a crashing end after questionable and subpar results. Bill contemplated the move while vacationing in his home in Sarasota Springs Florida. Its been no surprise that Parcells has been thinking about the direction, as indicated by the link above. He's the only coach not to make the meetings, and was absent from the TO press conference. A league source confirmed that Cowboys coach Bill Parcells resigned his position on Friday night after a lengthy meeting with owner Jerry Jones regarding the decision to sign receiver Terrell Owens. Parcells, who signed an extension last season, was angered by the acquisition of Owens. The veteran coach, we hear, told Jones that Owens had not changed and should not be signed. Parcells became livid after Owens' book deal was announced, which happened less than two days after Owens was introduced as a member of the organization. Butch Davis is the leading candidate to replace Parcells. Davis was the Cowboys' defensive coordinator in the early 1990s, and he served with Jimmy Johnson's two Super Bowl teams. I liked Butch, but I think there are better candidates. Maybe with Holmgren considering leaving Seattle, something can work there.
Really tough time of the year for a coaching change. The draft is coming up, a new coach is going to want 'his' guys, minicamps are starting, planning sessions are happening. This is really too bad for the Cowboys - Parcells had the team going in a good direction.
Are there any good coaches out there to replace Parcells? It might have to been a coach inside the organzation because of how late it is.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheBeef)</div><div class='quotemain'>the timing of this is too fishy...this is an april fools joke....</div> I agree. The timing of book would have been known at signing, and parcells didnt show to press conferences when bledsoe and keyshawn were signed. He just doesnt go to those things.
The source of the article likes to stirr things up.. I talked to someone who lives in the area and he says he's always complaining about Parcells not showing at press conferences..
that'd be hilarious if he had a press conference and then just said april fools and walked out of the room

Parcells takes a vacation this time every year. He goes and visits his grandchildren and goes to the racetrack to watch the ponies. He loves horses so when he has a little time he does what he likes, just as he should. No one in the league works any harder than Bill. I believe the new triplets, Jerry, Terrell and Bill, will get along fine until the honeymoon is over, that being anytime T.O. isnt the crux of the offensive game plan. Like T.O. said at the press conference " make sure to bring your popcorn because there gonna be a show." About all I can say is he is very talented and has taken over games before but I still dont think he can stay healthy all year.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (HAILMARY)</div><div class='quotemain'>T.O. isnt the crux of the offensive game plan.</div> Already sounds like the fertilizer hitting the windmill. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (HAILMARY)</div><div class='quotemain'>I still dont think he can stay healthy all year.</div> Physically or mentally?
T.O. is there as much to help take the pressure off and allow other people to get single coverage as he is to be a dominate go to guy. He is already mentally ill so he's a known commodity in that respect. Physically there isn't a more dominant wide reciever, but injury prone. Somewhere down the line Bill will have to confront that problem along with his age, which will become an issue over the life of his contract, if he honors it. Bill like reliable people he can trust, in other words, "Parcells guys". This is Jerry's deal all the way, we'll have to see how long Bill plays along.
