Rick Kamla on NBA TV mentioned earlier that there were whispers about the Rockets trading Bonzi Wells to Detroit for Dale "Dinosaur" Davis. If there is any shred of truth to this rumor, JVG should be fired A.S.A.P. Bonzi might be the missing piece to the puzzle. If the Rockets have any sense, they'd either a)keep Bonzi and make the most out of his talent or b)trade him and get a player with equal value. But aquiring Dale Davis would the dumbest most IDIOTIC move in Rockets history. For a team that prided itself on gettin "younger & more athletic" in the offseasn to trade away a difference maker for a washed up vet is very troubling to me. JVG has done this WAY to frequently with the Rockets (Charles Oakley, Mark Jackson, Rod Strickland, Clarence Weatherspoon etc...) I hate the fact we're even shopping Bonzi right now!! Like I said, I PRAY the Rockets aren't dumb enuff to trade away Bonzi.

NOTE TO JVG:With Tmac's back giving him problems, WE'RE GONNA NEED BONZI DOWN THE STRETCH. SO STOP PLAYIN MIND GAMES & PLAY BONZI. HE SHOULD'VE BEEN ACTIVATED, SO WHY IS HE STILL ON THE INJURED LIST?[IMG]

I don't see any need for you guys to aquire Dale Davis. You are already loaded with depth in the front court. Dikembe has been a monster as of late, you already have guys like Howard and Hayes, plus Yao when he returns. I don't really think there's any need for Dale Davis. I doubt he'll see much playing time as a Rocket. Bonzi Wells though, is a terrific offensive weapon and may play a key role for you guys in the playoffs. I don't really see any need for Dale Davis unless Yao will be out longer then expected. Even then, Davis isn't worth Bonzi Wells IMO

I agree Davis = over the hill.....5 years ago I probably would've done it, but I'd rather have Howard,Hayes,Mutumbo on the floor before Davis.....I hope this isn't true.

That would be a ridiculous trade. There's no sense in trading Bonzi for garbage while his stock is so low. At least get him back into the flow and see if there's any better trades available at the deadline.

This post makes no sense at all, Antonio Davis isn't even in the league anymore.

Dale Davis still remains a very good center in this league to have on your roster. He can still rebound and play defense. I agree It's abit pointless for a team like Houston unless Yao is going to be out even longer.

Dale Davis? I know Yao is injured but we dont need 3 centers? we already have enough big guys:

    Yao
    Mutombo
    Padgett
    Hayes
    Howard
    Novak

We are loaded enough as of now. I guess we could use a combo of a SF/SG right now. How about we go for a point guard? Behind Alston is Head who really can't play the 1 and young John Lucas. We could use a smart vet in Flip Murray. If we can pull Bonzi for Flip, I'll take it.

I think he meant Antonio Daniels, but he confused me for a while to.

I really hope the Rockets aren't serious about this. Maybe DET just called and put the offer on the table.

How does the rest of this board view the same trade but with DET's first rounder added?

LOL. Everyone's wrong, I think he meant Antonio McDyess.

I would pull the trigger right away. At this point, it seems that Bonzi won't really be a factor for us, so a Dale Davis and a first rounder is pretty generous considering Bonzi's trade value's very low right now. The ideal situation for trading him however, would be to play him enough so that he does a decent amount of stat padding, and then trade him when we can actually get a good deal for him.

Are u serious? We know Bonzi can hoop, we also know he's a legitimate 3rd scorer. Who's gonna pick up the slack when Tmac's back stiffens up? Who's gonna be our 3rd option in the playoffs? After watching Dallas run thru us in the playoffs, you'd think some of you would have more appreciation for a guy who put points on the board. Bonzi won't be a factor? I dont understand how you can jump to that conclusion so quickly[IMG]

I see why he would do the trade. We wont have Bonzi after this season, and although it's a low pick it is a deep draft.

I wouldn't do the trade. I really believe Bonzi will be the X factor against SA (he can post Manu), DAL (if they even think about small ball), and PHO (look at DAL;we will need all the points we can get and Bonzi did get 20ppg against the Spurs last season.)

Why are you bashing on JVG? He's not the GM, he doesn't make those sort of decisions.

    Cut the guy some slack..

I also agree that Bonzi (and possibly Battier) is our X-Factor. I do believe that Bonzi is more likely to be our 3rd scorer rather than Battier.

Its evident right now that the Bonzi situation really isn't working out for us. I never said that he couldn't ball, I simply said that he's not being a factor for us. Whether its because of Van Gundy not playing him, or injuries, Bonzi isn't going out there and contributing for the team. It seems like you come to arms pretty quickly whenever I talk about Bonzi. However, if you actually read my post, you'd see that if we do make a trade involving him, it should be when his trade value is much higher than now.

By the way, you need to think about what happens after this season. Regardless of how well we do in the playoffs, Wells is going to opt out of his contract and see how he does in the free agency market in order to get more money. That leaves us in the offseason pretty much ripped off (even though we know it would happen) since we really won't be getting anything in return for Bonzi. With igotask8board's scenario, at least we are getting a first round pick for him in a fairly deep draft.

You don't think Battier or Howard would pick up the slack? For someone who consistently praises these two, surely you'd have seen that with Yao out, one of those two have been the second option, and done very well?

You have to consider that when Bonzi was not injured, he contributed to the team mightily. He scored and rebounded at least, but most importantly, he gave Tmac a lil breather. Who else do we have that can give Tmac that breather and please do not say Shane Battier because Shane battier is most likely always on the court at same time Tmac is. Do not say Luther Head either because usually he replaces Alston. Without Bonzi we are being forced to use John Lucas to replace Alston instead of Head.

We really do need him and we haven't seen his full capacity yet so please hold off on these trades. When I say we haven't seen is full capacity, I mean we haven't seen him play with both Yao and tmac except that dallas blow out.

Battier and Howard can't carry a offense!!!!!!. Ur not being realistic. What league have you've been watchin[IMG] Battier and Howard are complimentary players who feed off our superstars. But we NEED another player who can create shots whether off the dribble of from the post. You guys aren't thinking.............

I just don't understand this logic[IMG] How can you contribute if ur not getting any playing time? Why trade a guy that can carry ur offense for stretches, especially with Tmac's back actin up. The reason I get ansy when you talk about Bonzi is because I want to see us win a championship this season. Looking at the Mavericks, Spurs & Suns, I can't began to understand why you'd trade a good post season player for draft picks[IMG] That's gotta be the most terrible logic I've heard.

<div class="quote_poster">AznxBaller Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">By the way, you need to think about what happens after this season. I remember when we traded Rudy Gay for Battier on draft night. I was confused at first, but the Rockets sold us on the fact their tryna to win a ring NOW instead of 2 or 3 years down the line. To say that, and trade away a VERY good player for DRAFT PICKS is a HUGE contradiction! Would San Antonio trade away Ginobli for draft picks? Would Phoenix trade one of their big 3 for draft picks? So why in the HELL would the Rockets do it. Bonzi can play a big role on this team if given the chance. But ur eliminating all that by trading him for a draft pick (who might not even play in JVG's system).

IF Bonzi Wells is traded, it BETTER be for somebody who can put up points and create shots. Somebody who's gonna put us in the elite. As good as we're playin, WE'RE NOT A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM YET. However, if we can find a way to get everybody back, might be.

    Kirk Snyder < Bonzi Wells

Bonzi is proven and if we want to win a championship now id rather have Bonzi, but you are right Kirk does provide that threat.

But locke, look at it this way.

Tmac is off the floor and your current line up is

    Deke
    juwan howard
    shane Battier
    krik snyder
    luther head

who do you run your offense around?

with Bonzi instead of Kirk you have an easy option with bonzi.
