This is showing to be pathetic. I was expecting good things from these teams in the beginning of the year. The division had Vince Carter, Paul Pierce, and Allen Iverson. How could they disappoint? AI gets traded, VC and Paul Pierce dont have the seasons they are expected to, and all the teams are below .500. The standings for this division:

Its seriously sad to see so many good players in this division but such bad play. What do you think will happen to this division in the future?

It will turn around? You have to realize that, in the past 3 or so seasons this division has had the worst collection of coaches and GM's in the entire NBA. Yet, despite that, all of them have very good young talent and will probably only acquire even more as they continue to get high draft picks.

It's just not the Atlantic Division, it's the whole Eastern Conference. The number 1 seed in the East is Cleveland, at 22-13. The Lakers and Rockets both have a record of 24-13, yet they are seeds 5 and 6 in the West. The East is just incredibally weak this year, it's not even funny. It just sucks to watch the Western Conference teams play their ***ess off just to make the playoffs, yet you have teams in the East that can slip their way through with a record below .500

Either way though, I don't know what you were really expecting for the Atlantic Division. The Sixers had Iverson and Webber, but it was already clear the duo was a failed expiriment. The Celtics have Paul Pierce, but who else? The Raptors have Chris Bosh, but their supporting cast is pretty weak. The only team that dissappoints me is the Nets, but they have started to pick things up as of late

Im just happy the knicks are 16-22 with a shot of the division. Isiah turned the team around dramatically. Just 6 wins away from last years total

Lawrence Frank hasn't done a good job IMO. He has guys like Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson, so expected the Nets to be above .500. Although I guess you can't completely blame Frank because the Nets don't have a post presence (although Mikki Moore has stepped up recently)

Maurice Cheeks isn't a great coach, nor is he horrible, but coaches can only do so much. The Sixers just flat out suck.

Lawrence Franks and Mo Cheeks are both mediocre coaches and, for the record, the Nets have had the least crappy front office out of all the teams. But seriously, this division has seen the likes of Isiah Thomas, Billy King, and Rob Babcock as GM's and Lenny Wilkins (twice), Doc Rivers, Kevin O'neill, Sam Mitchell, and Larry Brown (the NY version) as coaches. In general, it's been really bad.

In the future the Atlantic division will be great. If these players don't leave:

    Nets: Nenad Krstic, Marcus Williams
Raptors: Chris Bosh, TJ Ford, Andrea Bargani
    Knicks: David Lee
Celtics: Sebastian Telfair, Ryan Gomes, Al Jefferson, Tony Allen, Delonte West
    76ers: Andre Igoudala, Kyle Korver

The Atlantic division it's pathetic. It almost makes me sick to think that a team with a sub-.500 record could make the playoffs, and not just make the playoffs, but win the division. That's what could happen there. It's pitiful. And that's how the entire Eastern conference is. If any of the teams were out West, they'd stand no chance. There is 6 teams out West that could top the East right now, 6 freaking teams. It's pathetic. The fact that the West is going to have teams with better records than half the East miss out on the playoffs is sad, but that's just how weak the East is.

Don't forget to add Gerald Green to the list of young Celtics, I think he could end up being the best player other than Bosh down the road in that division.

Anyone know the point of these stupid divisions and conferences? I don't see why they don't just do away with the whole thing and let the entire NBA compete for 16 playoff spots.

I think it has to do mostly with ratings.

You forgot Eddy Curry. He could be one of the top centers in the league in a few years. Also Channing Frye, Nate Robinson don't have "star" written on them, but I think they can be valuable role players.
