<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> No Kidd-ing A general manager recently contacted New Jersey about rumors the team might trade Vince Carter, who can opt out of his contract after this season. The Nets asked him if there was interest in Jason Kidd. And this was before the tabloid frenzy of divorce reports last week when Kidd, previously charged with spousal abuse, accused his wife of abuse. Her filing is due this week. Kidd is part of the Nets' three-star circus with Carter in messy public divorce proceedings and Richard Jefferson answering Internet accusations about his personal life and lashing out at reporters last week over rumors of a fight with teammates. The game of basketball become equally curious for the Nets, hanging on in the miserable Atlantic, virtually tied for first though they're four games below .500. They're going nowhere with center Nenad Krstic out for the season, internal talk of poor team chemistry and as a lame-duck franchise headed for Brooklyn. Perhaps now is a perfect time to get something for Kidd, and for a few more losses to assure a lottery pick in a good draft. Have you noticed that most Jason Kidd articles have the pun No Kidd-ing somewhere in them? Just an observation. This is strange though. I'm surprised the Nets want to deal Jason because I feel like he is the easiest to build around out of the Big Three. Also, if Vince Carter can opt out of his contract after this season, why wouldn't the Nets want to get at least get something in exchange for him?
Well, the article doesn't really say they offered Kidd in place of Vince. Just says that they asked if they were interested in Kidd. For what reason, I don't know. Maybe they couldn't work out a Vince trade so they asked if Kidd could make it happen or if Kidd could get them another trade. So...I'm not sold by the title of this thread of how it actually went down.
I think Kidd is gettnig older though so they want a young prospect or something, but I don't see why they can't have Marcus Williams flourish. And + Jason Kidd is a walking triple-double.
That's merely the sign of a good GM. As nextlevelgame pointed out, the article's title is misleading. Thorn didn't offer Kidd, but merely wanted to gauge how much interest there is in him. Considering their record, I think he's smart in not treating any of his players as "untouchable."
Kidd will make the west stacked with guards. I don't want to see Kidd leave. Him and Vince need to saty, trade someone else.
