Bobcats are going from worst to best next season, with Okafor, Felton, May, Wallace, Matt Caroll, and hopefully Rudy Gay

This may be a first. Righty tosses seven scoreless innings; slugger drives in three By Jason Beck / MLB.com ARLINGTON -- Chris Shelton's now batting .700. The Tigers are still perfect. Shelton didn't homer Saturday night, but neither he nor his team missed a beat. He tripled twice as part of a 3-for-4, three-RBI game, providing offensive support behind Justin Verlander's seven scoreless innings, as Detroit rolled to a 7-0 win at Texas. <u>The 5-0 Tigers</u> are off to their best start since 1985, when they won six straight to open their World Series title defense. They'll try to match that here in Sunday afternoon's series finale. The Tigers 17 home runs in the first five games is a Major League record. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Williams, Osgood help Red Wings beat Blue Jackets COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Even with a couple of key injuries, the Detroit Red Wings are primed for another run at the Stanley Cup. Jason Williams scored the go-ahead goal and Chris Osgood made it stand in the Red Wings' 4-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night. The Red Wings improved their <u>NHL best record to 54-15</u>. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The <u>NBA leading Pistons (61-15)</u> play the Pacers tomorrow at 1:00 on ABC at The Palace. Tennis Player Maria Sharapova and friend watched the Pistons notch their 27th road win of the season, a franchise record, as they beat the HEAT 95-82 in Miami on Thursday.

I remember going to Old Chicago one night to watch both the Timberwolves and Wild in the playoffs, and the Twins were also playing a game - it was a ton of fun.

Red Wings clinch Presidents' Trophy with League's best record DETROIT (AP) -- The Detroit Red Wings slowly skated to Manny Legace, tapping his pads with their sticks as if it was an ordinary victory -- not the one clinching the best record in the NHL. Legace made 29 saves and Kris Draper and Donald MacLean scored to help Detroit beat the Edmonton Oilers 2-0 on Tuesday night. The Presidents' Trophy-winning Red Wings, with 118 points, will have home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs. "I don't think you saw much celebrating because the big mug is what we're after, not the Presidents' Trophy," said Legace, whose seven shutouts this season are the most for a Detroit goalie since 1965-66. http://www.detroitredwings.com/gameday/default.jsp?id=132
Shanahan records the hat trick against Chicago CHICAGO (AP) -- Brendan Shanahan and the Detroit Red Wings are not showing any signs of slowing down heading into the playoffs. Shanahan scored three goals and added an assist to help the Red Wings set an NHL record with their 11th straight road win, 7-3 over Chicago on Thursday night. http://www.detroitredwings.com/gameday/default.jsp?id=133

Detroit produces top teams in both NBA, NHL Associated Press Posted: 1 hour ago DETROIT (AP) - Hockeytown or Hoopstown? Detroit is both. The top teams at the end of the NBA and NHL regular seasons are from the <u>same city for the first time</u>, with the Pistons and Red Wings combining to pull off the feat for the Motor City. "It's always cool to be a part of anything that hasn't happened before," Joe Dumars, the Pistons' president of basketball operations, said Wednesday in an interview with The Associated Press. "This is a great sports town, and the fans around here are about to really have some fun following both teams." The Red Wings ended the regular season Tuesday with an NHL-best 58 wins, and the Pistons closed Wednesday night against Washington, entering the game with an NBA-best 64 wins. http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/5519326
