    Nice pass by POB! [IMG]

Man AZ is having a big game. Guy looks pretty smooth shooting the ball.

I'm really hating Barnes right now. Offensive black hole.

    CR2,

I can't stand Barnes. I'm losing hair because he makes me pull it out. He shouldn't be playing this much. We need Stephen Jackson and AL now.

AZ got out to a slow start played well Ellis had some bad turnovers, but had some nice steals and played pretty well also. There werent alot of players so alot of players got alot of minutes. O'Bryant played well in the minutes he had, watch out for GS when harrington gets there [IMG]

This game really pissed me off. If Baron played just 5-7 minutes in the second quarter we could have won. Barnes was awful tonight, I can't wait until all of our swingmen are healthy so he can find a place on the end of the bench. His 15 minutes appear to be up, it was nice while it lasted. Brand and Ross were unconscious the whole night, still we had many opportunities to take the game and screwed up all of them. Somewhat understandable considering the roster but godamnit we can't lose these division games against teams we're competing with for the playoffs.

POB looked pretty solid, D-League experience seems to have helped him. Azu and Monta were good tonight. Hopefully Baron won't get suspended for that semi-swing he took on Ross.

BTW, the new banner is nice.

Yeah, this is probably the one thing I liked best about Dunleavy. Unselfishness at the right times. If he's sucking, take a back seat! Stop shooting! Total Derek Fisher-ness right there. Barnes has to find the hot hand next time and stop worrying about numbers. I'm really starting to not trust Barnes or AZ if those two are about playing for numbers and big time contracts. Forget that. They might revert back to what got them sent to NBDL in the first place after they get big money.

Monta Ellis I'm not so worried about getting a big payraise after his rookie deal ends. He has the makings of a star IMO. The big deal is can he play point guard? He might be another Leandrinho Barbosa or Ben Gordon type guy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Yeah, Baron can have those regressions during the game. He is what he is. I doubt he'll can be a go to guy, even though he can play down the stretch.

Anyway, we lost a chance to gain a game against Minny but we didn't lose any ground.

CR2 ruined the new banner for me. Now I see Baron being jabbed all the time.

I was sick after reading one writer saying he though Barnes deserved a big pay raise. That's the kind of thinking we need to avoid. Hope it's all in the past now when some real players like AL and SJax come in.

I think Monta is going to be great. We need to re-sign him for sure. He could be our PG of the future.

I don't think resting Baron in the second quarter had any effect on whether they won or lost. That lineup held their own. I think they played it even. I think resting Baron allowed him to be less fatigued in the fourth, but got to hand it to Ross for making some big defensive plays at the end of the game.

The point where they lost the game was probably the beginning of the third quarter when the Clips could not miss a shot. And that was with Baron in the lineup, and I expected them to keep pace at least, not get down by 23.

But yeah, Barnes was terrible. He hit his first three and his stroke looked good. I thought he was in for a good shooting night too. His shot looked awful. He was way off every time. He may be starting to lose confidence in his shot and is aiming it or something. He hasn't been making threes at all lately, which is one of the biggest reasons he's in there.

See, I kinda knew Barnes is similar to Pietrus or like a really, really, really mediocre version of Shawn Marion. These guys really need others to create plays for them or to set them up. Barnes IMO is good in a limited role and that means he doesn't try to set up plays for himself or for others, unless its scripted. He should get the ball back out to the setup guy (if there is a better one out there).

I mean Barnes can assist, but he shouldn't do it when he's just going to force up crap and he's not much of a finisher on his own. It reminds me when Jason Richardson would try to do that and he was just a big cancer on the floor. He's gotta cough that rock up and get it to more efficient scorers! Forwards like those should let AZ, Ellis, Baron or some kind of guard that has the ability to handle the ball set him up first.

Now granted Ellis is still kind of a raw playmaker and AZ looks to score, those guys are supposed to be pretty decent passers at times compared to guys like Barnes or Pietrus who shoot threes or try to go to the bucket or make up their minds in advance. I think Barnes is better used when he's the hot guy from the corner or he's tracking down offensive rebounds or moving inside or outrunning the other team's power forward or small forward. Now with injuries, Barnes just settles for way too many outside shots and he just forces stuff rather than slowing down the game in his mind.

We can't have that kind of player ruin everybody else's game, especially when two other players have hot hands and we've limited bodies on the floor (so we can't even yank Barnes). Yeah, it's great he tries to get it inside, but he was not a very good finisher tonight. His big career games have been when he starts sinking those outside shots and if he gets 5 three pointers that's already 15 points, and maybe he scores some transition buckets to add another 10 and maybe he gets to the foul line a few times. Almost 30 points. But when he tries to do it all himself, well he just looks like he should go back to the NBDL. There's just not much variety to his game as of yet. It's all mostly Baron + small ball or whoever intiates offense in such a way it forces defenses away from him.
We'll see if Barnes can learn from this. I think he's a decent player, but not when he starts ruining the team game. I bet he's just trying too hard to be recognized as an individual, but he's got to be smarter and more unselfish.

How can you be mad at Barnes and Azubuike? They are producing and contributing. These two have roles to contribute as much as possible. It is not like they only look to produce by scoring either. Azubuike and Barnes are very strong rebounding for this team, playing some defense and also have done great jobs scoring with the Warriors. It's tough to ask more from them. Yeah Barnes couldn't get his shot going, but I don't think he was taking horrible shots. He is a bit of streaky shooter and all game I was hoping his shots would start dropping. If Barnes played like he has the Warriors probably should have won.

Monta is very good. I was a little scared with his ankle injury there. Hopefully it heals quickly. He returned to the game but who knows with Warriors and injuries if he may be hobbled still for a while.

Patrick O'Bryant played well. Still he must do better rebounding and keep from picking up so many fouls. He kind of has the Andris/Ike syndrome from last season. Even in the D-League he couldn't stay on the floor because of fouls. POB seems better with the ball in his hands and staying the flow with Nelson's offense than Ike, but he must start rebounding better. He also picked up a couple of blocks which is what he seems very capable of doing. So just focus on boards for Patrick.

I must admit that this was a horribly officiated game for the Warriors. In the end the fouls were "equal" but man there were some questionable calls against the Warriors. I don't know what happens to the refs in LA but they always seem to suck(or at least more often than not) working there.

Overall the Warriors almost beat the Clippers with a second round pick a year and a half removed from high school, an unwanted free agent from before the season, two D-League players, another player just called up from the D-League and Baron Davis not on his A-game. That is impressive. It would have been nicer to have jumped to a 2-0 advantage vs. the Clippers for this season though. These two teams are going to be fighting for all the position they can get and the Warriors can use all the advantages they can get.

It's tough to blame the players tonight for losing. Surely it would have been much better if the Warriors got more points from Barnes or Major who got some open shots. But for the situation it was a solid game, better than I expected. I was thinking I might only watch a half or a quarter because I had limited faith in it being close. Boy am I glad for watching it throughout. It was a good game. You have to give it up to the Clippers for playing some good defense. That Ross guy is tough. He kind of looks like Speedy Claxton, and he is just as pesky if not more; just ask Baron. Two plays in a row late in the game Baron got beat pretty badly by Ross' defense. Ross' offense was solid as well.

Well I suppose Saturday is the big day now. It should be exciting.

I'm not complaining really, I'm just suspicious of two nbdl guys. As undermanned as we were, I'm just saying we needed more guys to pass the ball out more and get better looks at the basket. You know, find the hot hands? Barnes was just out there throwing stuff up. Another night it might be another NBDL guy doing the same. I don't know how unselfish some of these guys are, but if they want to step up, they can't do it when their shot ain't going down and they're just forcing stuff up when there's better looks elsewhere.

We were in that game, but I think Barnes was trying to do too much. He really needed to give up the rock and just take backseat role and just stick to D and hustle + putbacks.

Heavy minutes with only 8 players is tough, but guys still have to play together rather than try to take over and do this one vs. 5 thing. I think in the last half, Barnes passed up some opportunities to get it to the better player out there.

I always knew that if Barnes wasn't hitting his threes, he wouldn't be a factor in a game. There were many possessions where he just simply couldn't get the ball in the hole. He would try to run the fast break and then just pull up and do a tear drop shot like parker but it never went in once. One time AZ got his rebound after Barnes attempted a shot 2 or 3 times and made it into a three point play where he didn't convert the free throw. Barnett said it best when Barnes kept shooting that instead of shooting those shots he should just drive to the basket and get fouled. We'll see where he goes from here when the ex pacers come in. Hopefully AZ can develope into something good and take over his spot?

The barnes bandwagon is slowing down as everyone is jumping off, just in time to bring in jackson and get barnes back to a 5-10 minute stint. If he does one more out of control spin move.... It is just ridiculous..... it is the same move.over and over... teams watch a little film and he will be running into charges everytime... so predictable.. It has been quite awhile since that 3 ball has been lighting it up as well.... that green light he has should be turning to caution right now.

Az continues to impress though it will be probably hard for him to find minutes with the new guys coming in....

And once MP and J-rich get back forget about it.

I think this trade pretty much leaves BArnes looking to cash in with another team in the off season... If we are going to sign anyone between AZ, BArnes and MP it has to be MP.... at this point i would take AZ over Barnes.

I was never on the BArnes bandwagon as i could see it for what it was ....a hot streak.... similar to how Fisher started last season.... til reality came crashing down on us with his game...

SAturday night is gonna be fun

You know what pisses me off? When Baron comes down the court and jacks up a jump shot without even passing. Or when he passes the ball to Monta and he jacks up a jump shot. Or when the 3rd pass is to Barnes coming off a back door curl. I think there needs to be a minimum 3 pass rule for the Warriors in a half court set. You should only shoot a jump shot if the shot clock is winding down to around 5 secs or less. The Warriors had no ball movement, but the Clippers did and in the first half it showed. The Clippers had 22 assists on 24 FGs made. The Warriors look so good when the ball movement is crisp and the defense is chasing them down all over the place. I understand sometimes when you have the momentum and Ellis comes down and shoots that little mid range jumper before the defense gets set, but come on guys!

Also when Baron lets the shot clock wind down to under 5 seconds before the end of a quarter or half at the top of the key and all he does is jack up a 3?! WTF! Take it to the rack. Otherwise you might as well move the ball until that 5 secs and see if anyone can get a wide open look instead of a 3 with someone in your face!

Almost forgot. There is some selfishness from these guys. There was a play in the first half were there was a steal by someone (maybe AZ) and AZ ended up with the ball right around half court. Ellis was streaking down court and instead of passing ahead up to Ellis, AZ was ahead of the pack too and took it all the way down court for the dunk. Now I am glad he got rolling, but as a team, I think you should always pass ahead to the guy because getting your teammates rolling is another way you can get rolling yourself. I dont know if he was just afraid of turning the ball over, but I think that is selfish. That is at least the 2nd time I have noticed that with AZ...

^^ I can agree but AZ doesnt have much money and is trying to impress as much as possible just to get a big deal it might be selfish, but I cant blame the guy. He isnt playing like he did at Kentucky one thing he has drastically improved on is his outside game, he was always a slasher but now he seems he can drop down the 3 with regularity. Baron to me isnt a pg at times he is at times he isnt, he reminds me of raefer alston with more talent and a better shot. Barnes had a bad night, players are allowed to have those at times, Ellis and AZ tried to step up as much as they could but the team wasnt very deep and they had to play alot of minutes, it was still hardfought, unfortunately it was a loss.
