<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Magic Coach Brian Hill finally has come out publicly and said what has been obvious for weeks: Struggling point guard Carlos Arroyo is losing his once magical grip on the job as Jameer Nelson's backup. Hill said he will "consider" making a change, presumably giving Travis Diener more playing time. Arroyo looks nothing like the player he was last season. He appears to have lost his confidence, which fuels his game. He is in a shooting slump, and seems indecisive with the ball. Diener is one of the best shooters on the team, but as the third point guard, he hasn't had any opportunities. His size and defensive shortcomings have put him on the end of the bench, but Nelson and Arroyo are not defensive stoppers either. Hill needs to shake things up and get the Magic out of their slump. They need a spark, and maybe Diener can provide it while Arroyo -- like a slumping hitter -- watches and gathers himself.</div> Source
It's official! Sit down Carlos! Diener time baby! <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Magic, looking to shake themselves out of their doldrums, have benched Carlos Arroyo as the backup point guard and elevated Travis Diener to back up Jameer Nelson. Arroyo has been mired in a slump for the past few weeks, and looks as if he has lost his confidence. Coach Brian Hill announced the switch after Friday's shootaround, adding, "It was time to make a change." The move was not done hastily. Hill gave Arroyo every chance to play his way back in or out of the lineup. Hill stressed that Arroyo could still play, and that the change might be a one-game deal, although that is not likely if Diener plays well. Diener, a second-year guard, has played sparingly this season, but he is considered one of the team's best shooters. It's obviously the chance Diener has been waiting for since the Magic picked him in the second round in the 2005 draft. Diener is in the final year of his contract. </div> Source
Awesome news. I can't wait to see Diener play, hopefully he starts getting good minutes tonight vs. the Wizards.
lol, Diener sucked tonight But Diener doing nothing > Arroyo shooting fadeaway jump shots with 20 seconds on the shot clock
