Through 9 games in the new year, Kobe has been putting up some impressive all around numbers.

    RPG - 5.9
    SPG - 0.78
    BPG - 0.44

The Lakers are 6-3 to start off the new year.

Those stats are simply impressive. People thought that Kobe would never become a true team player, lol.

Love what I'm seeing there. He's been very efficient. He's shooting a high clip and he's getting others involved while keeping his offense consistent. But hey, that's what he's been doing all season, and it's a big reason as to why we're winning this year, even when we've been without Odom and Kwame.

Yeah, he's been doing a great job this year. One thing I wasn't thrilled to see was him yelling at the Mavs game at Sasha saying "Pass me the ball m*therf*cker" And then screaming at Andrew Bynum cussin him out too. Not the best way for him to get respect from his teammates with that kind of leadership. Nobody likes being yelled at like that, no one. He can get his point across in other ways.

It's also too bad all his assists come in the first 6 minutes of the game, then passing Kobe is no where to be found.

Nice numbers by Kobe. I especially like the FG %. And ofcourse PPG, RPG and APG numbers don't need any comments...

Yeah 6-3 is nice, including 3 wins against great teams on the road.

Kobe still passes very often throughout the whole gam, the easy assists just come earlier on. It's not like he goes into selfish mode all of a sudden.

I've been very impressed with Kobe's play this year, and it has little to do with his stats (a lot of other players are putting up more impressive numbers, even this month). He just seems so under control this year. I'm not watching him everyday, though -- maybe you guys have a different perspective.

He still doesn't appear healthy though. He's also been getting stupid nagging injuries (the ankle, groin strain, flu symptoms), aside from having to deal with major knee surgery. I'm not seeing 100% from him (physically), but I'll take 3/4 of him anyway.

If that's calmed his game down a bit, it may not be a totally bad thing. That's what Jordan needed to do for the Bulls to get over the hump.

He still seems quite capable of taking the game over down the stretch.

Well thanks for keeping that in mind. Then again, Kobe did play last season with a fractured knee, so maybe he hasn't been 100% in a while.
