<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">New Jersey point guard Jason Kidd said recently he?s been invited to join the U.S. basketball team this summer when it attempts to qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Such news makes it seem as though Kirk Hinrich?s spot on the roster is precarious. The fourth-year Bulls guard played for Team USA in last year?s FIBA World Championships in Japan.

Hinrich usually split time at point guard with New Orleans? Chris Paul. Besides Kidd, though, the other guards on the U.S. roster who didn?t play last year for various reasons include the Lakers? Kobe Bryant, Milwaukee?s Michael Redd, Detroit?s Chauncey Billups, Washington?s Gilbert Arenas and Seattle?s Luke Ridnour.</div>

This was obviously going to happen, Kirk doesn't have superstar status that those others do and his spot on the team was more rented instead of owned.

The US team is usually about fame rather then anything else. They still haven't learned you can't win the big one with that type of roster and I hope they continue to lose. Until they stop with entire rosters of the big name players they can't go far because finding a team that works well together and simply molding a team with a few of those high class players is a better road to take. Whatever works, but that's not the US management's idea of a good team.

Maybe it is good for him, he can workout with the Bulls, and not spend some much time there and be ready for the start of the season. So he doesn't get fatigued like they've been saying about all the other players including him with everyone's numbers down from the USA Team last season. Excluding a couple of players that went up.

I understand what you're saying, but Kidd is the ultimate team player and would be a much better addition than Kirk. I LOVE Kirk he's my fave bulls player. The US team really just needed Arenas, more shooters...
