    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">OK, now what?

That's the natural question after this week's blockbuster trade between the Warriors and Pacers, who swapped nearly a third of their rosters in Wednesday's eight-player deal.

Just one month remains until the Feb. 22 trade deadline, and there figures to be plenty more moving-and-shaking around the league before then -- even by those who have already spruced up their teams.

Mike Dunleavy had barely learned of his new address before speculation began spreading that the Pacers might trade him for Clippers swingman Corey Maggette. Both teams shot that down Thursday, with Pacers general manager Donnie Walsh telling the Indianapolis Star the reports were "absolutely untrue."

But Warriors vice president Chris Mullin sounded as if he was leaving the door open for more moves, and he's got a built-in grace period because of his early wheeling-and-dealing.

"It gives us a good month to get a look at this, where we are, and re-evaluate that," Mullin said.

Golden State has three swingmen whose games overlap: high-priced Jason Richardson, free-agent-to-be Mickael Pietrus and the newly acquired Stephen Jackson. And all three won't be around next season, especially with Monta Ellis still emerging. </div>

Out of J-Rich, Sjax, and Pietrus, i would want to move Pietrus. He's good and all but he's not better than the other two. In the final seconds to win a game i would rather put the ball in Jrich and Sjax's hands over Pietrus'.

I agree. He is a great role player, but not a star...

I love Pietrus' character, but out of the three, he is the most expendable, IMO. I say let's not worry what to do with him when he becomes a FA. We already have J-Rich and SJax locked up for a few years.

I agree completely. Pietrus will demand a big contract. He's not smart and he's definitely not better than JRich. The contract he'll want will probably be just a few mils cheaper than JRich's and his contract is expiring, making him the most ideal and expendable trading piece.

Pietrus + Foyle would be good trading pieces before the deadline for some sort of big man.

One expiring contract + one overpaid yet useful big man (with a great attitude, might I add). Anyone?

But then again, Pietrus will only have value to the teams that are looking to make the playoffs and teams that are looking to make it to the finals. This is because he has an expiring contract. Stephen Jackson can't be traded until the offseason. Jason Richardson might have trade value, though obviously probably not as much as he used to have, or would have if he were healthy.

I would much rather have Pietrus play PF than JRich or SJax though [IMG] haha. Yeah I am not against trading Pietrus or JRich in the right deal. This should be a very interesting month for the Warriors. First we get to see how the team does after Wednesday's trade. Second the trade deadline is approaching and there is a lot of possibilities out there for the Warriors to make a move. Maybe this team can make a Rasheed Wallace type deal (referring back to when the Pistons dealt for him) to really give this team a push in the right direction (Gasol? AK47?).

I kind of doubt anybody wants Foyle. Again it would have to be a team that is trying to make the playoffs and is in dire straits for a big man like Foyle or a perimeter defender and shooter like Pietrus. If a team wants Pietrus, I think they would perfer trying to sign him this offseason than coming anywhere close to Foyle and his contract.

Foyle for Rasho? (yeah right, plus Toronto is winning)
Foyle + Zarko for Theo Ratliff?

Yeah, I'm trying to get rid of Foyle because I think his salary increases every year until that team option year.

What ever happened to the Warriors buying Foyle out of his contract? I'm not sure any team in the NBA wants him and the contract he brings.

    Welcome to JBB [IMG]

I think Foyle refused to accept less money than what his contract has, which is probably a smart move on his part because if we do buy him out he'd be lucky to even get a minimum contract. For now hes probably somewhat useful to have since we lack bigs and need a guy to stop the Yao's of the league but buying him out would be ideal.

The thing with Foyle is he IS playing better----and he's all we got behind Biedrins. Buy out? It still costs$,still is a cap hit.

S Jackson CAN be traded...just not packaged with another player. We could for example trade him to the Bobs for Ely. They get a 15 pt scorer for nothing much-we get instant savings and a usable big guy for this year.

Barnes,Azu and Powell are guys we do NOT have RFA leverage on-or Bird rights. I don't know when we can make an offer,or what sum would be agreed on. With MP we DO have RFA+Bird rights-and he wants to stay. That's handy as we do not have guys who shine on D and he can cover G's or F's.

I saw nothing special in Ely last night. I dont understand why we would make this trade. Jackson is a legit starting SF. Foyle's contract is easier to swallow now that Dunleavy, Murphy and Fisher are all gone. I have no problem with retaining his services. I just hope POB develops enough where he can get some regualr PT this year in the playoffs or next year...

I dont think anyone would take jackson right now until all of his legal problems are clearly identified with sentencing etc.

I do see us trading someone on our team with Barnes/AZ etc as a valuable low cost piece. If we cant keep Pietrus for a reasonable price ie:>$5-6mil per season then I would love to sign and trade him for just about any other proven/young PF/C.

Barnes and Pietrus are legit starting F's and..as you say, nobody much wants Jax....not because he may do 30 days of his 4 yr deal in the joint-but because he's a headache/headcase for whom such a reality check is overdue.
If we just get him out of the way without getting deadweight---fine. I do NOT trust the guy as a player, and don't much like him for any other reason.
I could see trading Barnes. That's especially so if we can't unload Jackson. Barnes has played well, has done a lot of things and there are quite a few teams that were,I'm sure impressed when he outplayed their big $ guy.
The thing is, teams will say,"hey,we can just offer him an MLE deal post season along with everyone else-so here's what we give as a rental....

With him a low $ deal,we can basically deal for a pick and or a guy who was a rd 2 or a walk on. We'd have pretty limited options. Azu is a bit more low profile. We might have a decent chance keeping him cheap.

The Foyle we have NOW gets a LOT of blocks per minute, look it up. He also has a slightly BETTER FG% than league leader Biedrins and has stopped the goofy fumbles, clanks off the rim, etc. Now he's making power movers inside and finishing quite well.

Ratliff is 2 years at more $ each---but unusable. Rasho is 3 yrs-a bit cheaper, but a stiff. Nazr is as good as the 2007 version of Foyle---but a 5 yr deal. Meanwhile....you guys are hard core W's fans, watch most games-and many fail to see the big difference in Foyle-NOW vs what was. I think other teams are just as likely to have not updated their perception.

I agree with REREM about Foyle. He's much better this year. Granted the limited minutes do not expose him as much. If he screws up Nellie will pull him.

Yeah, I think it is clear Foyle has played best over his career as a back up to our legit starting centers in Damp and Beans. He must have gotten too worn down or something starting because we all expected him to keep up his by the minute stats as a starter and average around a double/double along with about 3-4 blocks per game. That obviously did not happen. He gets paid starting center money as a 10-15mpg player. If we can trade him great for less money in the long run, I am all for it...

Well what do we do if we want our center to be more involved in the offense? For that kind of style Foyle just isn't that good. I don't think Rasho is that much of a stiff compared to Foyle, At least he blocks shots, and is a better offensive player. Plus, his deal is probably for two more years if he opts out his third.

He's not an ideal player because he suffers from defensive lapses from time to time, he's foul prone, and he's not really a dominating presence in the paint nor a guy that could probably run. But neither is Foyle. He blocks a lot of shots, that's pretty much his only role.

It was just an idea to get us somebody that doesn't absolute suck on offense like Foyle does. He's a joke in that regard. Even if he gets the high fg% we have to account for the fact he's bound to drop a lot of stuff or miss the other easy layups or dunks he should have gotten 100% chance to go in. If Biedrins goes down we know we're screwed if that guy starts.

Haven't been following the Raptors, but Rasho seems to be another stiff like Foyle. BWS vs BBS. We'll have to see what else we can get in trade.

Nelson said that he likes Powell because he knows the plays and is where he is supposed to be. I think that was a rap on Powell's predecessor Ike Diogu. If Powell can rebound and clog the middle for about 10 - 15 mins, then he would be a great help. But I'm not sure if he can play center if AB goes out. We're stuck with Foyle and I doubt Mullin would buy him out if POB cannot make it back.

Yeah, I think Powell will see minutes at the PF, but until we have something better, we need Foyle for when AB gets in foul trouble. It's a terrible contract but it is what it is. Right now GS just has to roll with it and Nellie has to find a way to get something positive from Foyle.
