<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This past week, the NBA ordered its security forces in all 29 cities to come up with a list of clubs and other night spots that should be made off-limits to players. The shooting death of Darrent Williams is a motivating factor in the directive. Once the clubs are identified, with the help of local law enforcement, the league will send a directive to teams mandating that players avoid those spots or be subject to a substantial fine.</div> http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...in_night_spots/ I understand the motive behind this, but I think it's a complete joke. The NBA can't control these players' lives. If they want to go out, Jesus Christ, let them go out. Making clubs off limits for players is another power trip being installed by David Stern. Such a god damn joke.
They want to control what they do and how they look when they are playing.... then even when they arent playing but are watching..... and now when they go out at night... This won't solve anything. Altercations like what happened to Darrent can happen at any club. Maybe they should make all the players just stay in the hotel and play board games. Or read their scriptures. Stupid, retarded gangs.
Darrent Williams wasn't even involved in the altercation, he was just unfortunate. David Stern needs to realize he can't control the lives of basketball players. If they want to go to the Elephant Bar, they're going to go. If they want to be out at 1 in the morning, they will be. I expect the player's union to fight this. Especially for the teams in L.A., NY, Chicago and the other big cities.
There is no way that they can get the players union to approve this...not only that, but if it's not in the players contract how can he force the teams to mandate anything?
<div class="quote_poster">AirJordan Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Well unless they take a pay cut the NBA can change as many rules as they want.</div> Not really considering there is a players union.
David Stern has gotten worse and worse every month. first the dress code, then no tights while playing, then the new ball (changed back now), and now he wants to control the players as he was their father. **** Stern, the NBA could get a better commissioner.
<div class="quote_poster">AirJordan Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Well they get paid way to much so it shouldn't be too hard to follow some simple rules.</div> Simple rules? Are you serious? These players have a life outside of the basketball court. Mainly, a social life. Stern trying to control their social life is an absolute joke.
<div class="quote_poster">NTC187 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Haters will hate, no matter where you go. This wont achieve anything.</div> What do you mean by that?
This might be the worst rule yet. David Stern is abusing his power big time. This isn't going to clean up anything. I don't think the Darrent Williams example is a good one at all because he wasn't involved in any altercation from what I know. I can definately see the players from NY, L.A, Miami, and Chicago having something to say about this one.
<div class="quote_poster">Mamba Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">What do you mean by that? </div> Well people hate on guys like NBA stars and what not simply because they're getting paid, thats where most of those kind of altercations at clubs stem from.

No he wasn't involved in the altercation, but he was riding in a stretched hummer that included people who WERE involved in the altercation. He was unlucky enough to be the only one to die, or even get critically injured. But yeah, trying to control where NBA players go on weekends is not the solution. Stern is psycho.
Kobe is visiting strip clubs now ?;D I remember that he said that he doesn't understand the meaning of going to stripclubs and drinking and smoking. And he also said that I'd rather play basketball. ;D But this rule can't be true. Next time David Stern will choose NBA players' wives and put cameras into their house just to watch that they don't eat chips or drink beer... Whatever.
