<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You never know what might happen when a player gets benched. He can go one of two ways. Sometimes the coach loses him, sometimes he comes back to reclaim his job with a vengeance.

Magic point guard Carlos Arroyo took his demotion like a pro, and responded with an improved performance in the club's loss to the Nets Saturday night.

Arroyo was benched in favor of Travis Diener on Friday night and did not play his usual role as starter Jameer Nelson's backup.

But against the Nets, Arroyo looked more confident, finishing with 10 points and five assists on the night.

He played 22 minutes and committed no turnovers while Nelson had four turnovers and 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting in 32 minutes

Arroyo, mired in a horrid shooting slump, hit 4-of-8 shots. While Diener went scoreless in backing up Nelson Friday night against the Washington Wizards, he scored 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting against the Nets and had one turnover in 22 minutes.</div>

I can't believe we made Arroyo look good. That's pretty sad, but at least we won.

What happened to Dwight though, Alex? Can't handle a 40 year old defender? lol.

Yeah, that was horrible. I can't say much since I didn't get to actually watch the game (it wasn't televised in Tampa) but from what I saw on the Gametracker, it didn't seem like he was getting many touches. How a coach can give their star player only six field goal attempts is just beyond me.

Yea I was surprised by the lack of touches. And when he would get touches, he wouldn't be in the best position.

Kind sad to see him only score a point.

They only give him the ball when he is too far away from the basket. When he has great position under the basket he rarely gets the ball.

And while a lot of the problem is Brian Hill's play calling and lack of offensive creativity, some of the blame has to be put on our guards. Jameer Nelson, Carlos Arroyo, Keyon Dooling, and Grant Hill are all scorers. I don't mind Grant scoring as much but I really hate when Nelson, Arroyo, and Dooling are jacking up jumpshots. I really think we need a facilitator running our offense if we want to be successful.

You guys have more problems than Brian Hill. Keyon Dooling needs to know he's not a superstar in this league. Unless Dwight Howard learns to pass out of double teams and cuts down on turnovers, he's not gonna get many plays called for him.

I agree that Keyon Dooling thinks he is a scorer which is pretty frustrating considering his jumpshot is inconsistent and he even misses layups sometimes. He needs to realize his place on this team and stop attempting so many shots.

This is the first season that Dwight has had to adjust to team's double teaming him so of course there is going to be an awkward phase for him. He's still learning and if he isn't getting a chance to handle the ball, how is he supposed to improve beating the double team and limiting his turnovers?

Dwight is getting much better at passing out of double teams. Most of the turnovers now are steals when he tries to drive in, not pass out of double teams.

Hey I don't blame him I would force shots too if I only get 6 shots a game and am the best player on the team, everyone knows if and when he does pass out he most likely wont get it back.
