The texans have contacted DE Mario Williams's agent to start contract talks, and might use the 1st overall pick on him.

I, too, read, the Texans were talking to M Williams. I wonder if a trade is in the works.

The most likely partner IMO is the jets who will take Ferguson (for the Texans) if he is still on the board.

The Texans should be talking to all the top prospects in case of a trade. But to say they're working out a contract is a bit strange when Bush is clearly the #1 prospect should they keep the pick.

Yeah, there's no way the Texans take Mario Williams #1 overall. It's a smoke screen.

Reggie Bush is going to be the guy. Despite what Vince Young says...

Its not that illogical to think that the Texans would consider Williams 1st overall....for now, they cant stop anyone and they play in a division with Peyton Manning, Steve McNair(for now), and Byron Leftwhich....can Reggie Bush put any of those guys on thier asses? Nope, but Mario Williams can.... they already have Dom Davis and not everyone rates Bush as high as some....the media has seriously overhyped the guy....RBs are great, but good one can be had later and if they run the zone blocking like the broncos do, you can find very productive backs late in the draft....if they can trade the pick, that would be best, because I dont think they are in love with the idea of picking Reggie Bush....

I think this is the general consensus among people who follow the NFL, but I also think that Houston is feeling their fans displeasure. The fans want Bush - I don't know, Texans seem to like that name. [IMG]

the day an NFL GM picks any player becuase of fans or group of fans opinions, should be his last day as a GM....as a GM, above all else, you need to have conviction that your evaluation process is effective....if you dont, you need to change it....if you're convinced your process is good, then trust it, and find the way to get the best value....if thats Reggie Bush, so be it, but I dont see it....memo to Casserly: CALL THE JETS!....they have two 1st rounders THIS YEAR....they have an older back that is nearing the end....youve got a young QB thats spent more time on his back than a $2 hooker....want to help Carr? forget Bush, get him a franchise LT(Ferguson at 4), a great C prospect(Mangold at 29) and see if the guy enjoys standing upright(and youll get additional picks in the deal)....

I'd be shocked if Reggie Bush wasn't the 1st name called on 4/29. If the Texans take Mario at #1 just b/c they weren't able to work out a deal with Bush then they are making a big mistake. I can understand wanting to bring down Reggie's asking price but by negotiating with Mario they lose trade leverage IMO. For FAs to be the Texans will look cheap & poorly run. Soon the little fan support they're clinging to now will be gone. So much is riding on this pick. The city of Houston already lost a football team once. Don't think it couldn't happen again. Can you say Los Angeles Californians?

I agree with you about the GM following the fans is bad. Because if the a GM makes a popular pick and its a huge bust then its the GMs job not the fans.

Bush isn't just the fans pick though. He's every NFL draft expert in America's pick as well.

I dont put too much stock in "Draft Experts"....any real draft expert is working for a team right now(or retired), and those guys only tell you what they are thinking by making the pick itself...half the "Draft Experts" rated Leaf over Manning....

I forgot how that worked out again. Could someone remind me please! LOL

If these so call "experts" are so damn good why aren't any of them employed by any NFL teams? Also we have no clue what Bush can do in the NFL. He could be the next Barry Sanders or he could be the next Ryan Leaf.

I put zero stock into what they say because there off about 99% of the time.

I'm not saying that I'm an expert, but I have a feeling that Houston is going to either trade out or trade Bush for another player and a draft pick.
