I dont know if anyone checked the newspaper today, but Gilbert Arenas said that he is no longer seeking revenge against the suns. hahahhaha thats only cause he knows they are not going to win i hate the stupid streak killing one man show they call a team. Arenas will probably put up like, my guess, 39 points. he will have a good game. But i have a feeling that Amare is gonna be pretty high in the scoring tonight. prediction: Suns 198 Wizards 39
haha, the suns need some kind of defense to win. but there is really no reason why the suns shouldnt dominate them like they do every other team in the nba.

<div class="quote_poster">Answer_AI03 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">haha, the suns need some kind of defense to win</div> The Suns are a far better defensive team than they were 2 years ago, after every game, I always hear the opposing coach mention how the Suns are a far better defensive team than they thought. John Hollinger even wrote an article about the myth that the Suns are a bad defensive team (this was from last year, but the same idea applies): <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Phoenix games feature more possessions for each team than typical NBA contests... the average Suns game has an estimated 98.2 possessions for each team... because their opponents get more opportunities, the Suns could be substantially better than their per-game average shows... Fortunately, we have a simple way of making that adjustment. I keep track of two statistics called Offensive Efficiency and Defensive Efficiency that eliminate the impact of pace by measuring points scored and points allowed per 100 possessions... defensively [they] rank second overall in the league.</div> This year the Suns are 11th in Opponent FG%, 8th in Opponent 3P%, and 3rd in in Opponent PPS (points per shot). That's a top 10 defense if not better; fans of other teams are just used to slower games where each team gets 75 shots, each team of a Suns game gets 90+ shots. So of course more points are going to be scored, the Suns just happen to hold their opponents to the low 100s while they score 115+. You can't have the highest scoring differential in the NBA (like the Suns do) if you can't play defense. When you play video games do you not score more points if the quarters are longer? What's worse? If you allow 80 points in 8 minute quarters or 100 points in 12 minute quarters? The 80 points because you are giving up 2.5 points per minute compared to 2 points per minute in the 12 minute quarter. The Suns are basically playing 15 minute quarters, don't let the points allowed fool you, the Suns are better than you think on defense.

I have another identifier of their defense that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. Opponent body language. Late in games you look at "Superstars" like Lebron, Arenas, or Howard (to name a few recent ones) and they look just devastated that they weren't good enough to beat the Suns.
