<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Shavlik Randolph still walks with crutches. The pin that was inserted into his left ankle following a gruesome fall during a 76ers practice on Nov. 30 is still there. But Randolph, who suffered a dislocated and fractured ankle, is closer to returning. He will meet with doctors on Wednesday. They will tell him when they plan to remove the pin, which is being used to hold the ligament together. Once the pin is removed, Randolph said it will be four to six weeks before he can return. He's still shooting for the middle of March. For now, Randolph can walk in a pool, ride an exercise bike and put about 50 percent of his body weight on the ankle. Doctors don't want him to put any more weight on it until the pin is removed. "I don't see why I shouldn't be back by mid-March," Randolph said. "The worst-case scenario is that I'd be pretty close to 100 percent by April." Of course, barring a miracle, the 76ers' season will be over on April 18. So, Randolph was asked why he is so intent on returning for the final 15-20 games of the season. "I'm not sitting here thinking I can save the season," he said. "It's [a goal] that I set for myself. If I can play the last 20 games of the season, that's a huge chunk. That would be great to have some momentum for the summer." </div> Link I hope Randolph takes it slow. He was basically our only bright spot this season. I wish him a good recovery, and hopefully he can return next season strong
Shav was having a great season up until his injury. I hope he gets to full strength before pushing for an early return. This seasons basically toast anyway.
This injury really set back a good year of development for him. Hopefully he stays focused over the summer and is a big contributer next season.
Am I the only one who finds Randolph extremely overrated? Sure he is a good hustle player, but a career average of two points, two rebounds, is not exactly impressive. I don't see him as anything thing a mid-card bench player in the future. If he played for any team with a shot at the playoffs, and was healthy, he would likely see no time.

But the fact that he's still a young player, and that he has been having a terrific season (up to the injury) gives us some hope

I just think you guys are putting way too much hope into a guy who really does not have that bright a future in the league. I think he is a second coming of Zendon Hamilton.
Sometimes stats aren't the whole deal. Randolph is a guy who knows what he's put in the game for and does it. He doesn't take stupid shots, he rebounds well, he has the fundamentals down and can finish under the net. Hell, I don't praise the guy like he's some All-Star returning from an injury, but I sure would prefer Randolph over Henderson.
