<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">According to a league source, the Bulls have offered the Grizzlies a package that includes Ben Gordon, P.J. Brown and a first round draft pick in return for Pau Gasol, who has requested a trade. The source also said Brown would be included in any trade made before the deadline. "They have more value today than when the season started," Paxson said of Gordon and Luol Deng. "Everybody in this league would love to have Lu Deng and Ben Gordon. I'm glad we have them."</div> Source Now I understand getting Gasol is tempting, but why give away a clutch scorer like Gordon.
Bad idea by Pax this time out, if it came down to Ben or Deng I would probably push Deng. We need a solid SG.
If this is true than why didn't they take it. Ben Gordon and a first rounder (never clarified if it was the Knick's or not btw) that's pretty good for a guy who requested a trade.
here's Paxson on Gasol and Garnett <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Chicago GM John Paxson spoke publicly about trying to put a deal together to acquire F/C Pau Gasol from the Grizzlies. "More will come down to if Memphis is in fact going to make a move, they're going to get the best deal they can get. That's what they should do," Paxson said. "For us, it's very difficult to give up too much. If it's just going to be a lateral move, I tend to keep the assets we have and try to find some other way to get better." The fact that other GMs are talking so openly about Gasol's availability is rare, and appears to almost gurantee the big man will be moved before the February trade deadline. You can bet that just about every team in the league is going after Gasol, but the Bulls are in a good spot with several expiring contracts, draft picks and young, good players to offer. If there's still a possibility of Kevin Garnett being traded this year, the Bulls are going to want to make sure he's not an option before making a serious run at Gasol. </div> http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...ne=75643&spln=1
I wouldn't pay too much attention to speculation and all that. Let's just be patient and wait to see what exactly Pax is going to do if anything at all.
If the Bulls trade Gordon I will be extremely upset. I'm actually hoping Gasol gets dealt else where from the packages I'm hearing.
I think this rumor is false just like when they said the Suns were going to trade us Shawn Marion for Tyson Chandler and pick.
Not really a big fan of this.. we would get Gasol, but it wouldn't be a guarantee we would win a championship this season. Gordon has really improved and is better at consistent play this season. And he's only going to improve. Plus we wouldn't be able to draft someone in the first round, to get another player. We wouldn't have given as big of a deal as Gasol has and then Deng is going to run up and we'll have to pay him along with Noc and Hinrich already got a new deal. It would matter what we would do in the future I guess in either situation. Or I just like Gordon too much because I see him play at the time. And if it is real, and it doesn't happen. I'm guessing Brown would be upset again and Gordon sure wouldn't be happy.
<div class="quote_poster">M Two One Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I really doubt the Bulls will be trading any of Pax's core four.</div> I doubt it 2, I think Paxson should try and convince West that rebuilding is the best option. Memphis should build around Rudy Gay, Miller, and the 2007 pick. Maybe keep 3 other players and trade the rest. They have something if they trade with us. P.J. Brown and Mike Sweetney (expiring), Chris Duhon, our 2007, i dont think that our 2008 can be traded because we cant trade consecutive pick but maybe we protect it or something so we can trade it to them , our 2008 second rounder, our 2 2009 second rounders. Then in 2008 they will probably get a 1-7 pick. Remember rebuilding takes a few years and by the 2008 season they should have a nice team of this: Rudy Gay Mike Miller Chris Duhon Dahntay Jones Alexander Johnson Kyle Lowrey 2007 pick (get a post-player) our 2007 pick 3 second rounders (stars can come out of the 2nd round) decent free agent(s) top 1-7 2008 pick 2008 second round picks there theres and ours. and this is not including the trades that they will be doing to get rid of players they dont need or if a team wants a trade for a pick. to me thats a good team
Why do the Grizzle even want Gordon? Between Rudy Gay, Warrick, Lowrey, etc. they are loaded for the future in the back court/swing man spot. Don't do it Paxson!
