I got this from another site, so take it for what it's worth. This was discussed on ESPN-NBA Coast to Coast. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">They said that the Nets and Clippers were close to trading Marcus and Carter for Maggette and Livingston; however, the Clippers wanted to add Cuttino Mobley instead of Maggette and thats where the talks stopped. They also said that if one of the Nets' big three were to be dealt that it would be Carter and that Kidd doesn't expect to be traded unless he asks for a trade. </div>
I don't see how this trade would improve us. Livingston isn't playing that much better than Williams, and I'm not so sure his ceiling is as high as it was projected to be. Maggette is a good player, but not close to Carter's level.

Clippers-Nets Trade Talks About Carter Ends <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Clippers sources on Thursday confirmed that the team recently talked about a possible trade with the New Jersey Nets . The Clippers did speak with the Nets about the availability of star guard Vince Carter and point guard Jason Kidd, and were told the players were not available. The Clippers are no longer pursing any deals involving Carter and Kidd. But the Clippers have been in discussions with many teams about potential trades that could help them improve before the Feb. 22 trading deadline. Carter and Kidd were among the players the Clippers identified as potential difference-makers that could help the team make the playoffs. In recent weeks the Clippers have been shopping forward Corey Maggette because his agent requested a trade.</div> Source
This trade doesn't include a big man, so I don't see why NJ would even bother getting involved. From the Clippers perspective, it would be hard to justify passing up on Iverson and then turning around and dealing for Vince. The entire time the Clippers refused to part with Livingston in order to land Iverson, so it's hard to imagine they've changed their minds in a matter of weeks. This trade doesn't make sense for either team. The Clippers are starting to win again and Maggette talks have died down. He's getting his minutes and he's been productive. Any move the Nets make has to bring them back a big man. They should do all they can to land Pau Gasol, Zach Randolph, or Ron Artest.
