It's an easier shot when the three attempt keeps going flat hitting the front rim or back iron, instead of straight inside the cylinder. I love the three, but if you can't hit or make that rainbow arc, time to do something else especially if you only need two to win and there's enough time on the clock to make one extra move and have time to set feet. Oh and it helps if you dont' have Derek Fisher syndrome where any type of foot movement causes the shot to go bad. In that case I'd want Derek Fisher type guy to just take whatever shot he can without having to dribble anything. Man I love that kid even if he makes those rookie mistakes. Good at both ends of the floor too. and of course, Props to teamwork and Baron Davis for the game winning assist. The Ellis kid's a lot more natural than most high school/one year college ball players that play all dumb.
Yeah, that was a huge play by Baron to steal the rebound from Mikki Moore, who had a sure offensive rebound, then find Ellis for a wide open game winning shot.
You know what won the game was actually Baron's three FT's when he got fouled by Carter on the 3 attempt.
True guys, it was a team win. Nobody is dominant by themselves to win the game for us because we're a small team. I thought free throw shooting would have killed us for sure, but our worst free throw shooters stepped up. Whew!
Baron is his biggest opponent. There were tons of times where he tried to show JKidd up, like when Kidd hit a three Baron would attempt one at the next possession and so forth. But in the end he got a huge huge huge rebound a la Jrich style but gave up the rock to a open team mate instead of trying to be the hero.
For those who missed it... Invalid Video Link I gotta give Baron props for that rebound, his hands got higher than Moore's and Andris'. Gotta love a PG thats explosive.
I thought that was excellent coaching not calling timeout and not giving the Nets a chance to set up their defense. Also it was smart for Ellis to step in. Basketball coaches preach stepping in for the midrange jumper all the time and it's not often you find players, particularly young players heeding that advice.
