<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The NBA will name its starters for next month's All-Star game Thursday night before TNT's Dallas-Chicago telecast and Vince Carter is, as they say in Vegas, virtually a lock. Carter and Miami's Dwyane Wade are expected to be named the starters at guard, based on fan voting, with Gilbert Arenas third and Jason Kidd fourth. Allen Iverson had led Carter most of the balloting but when he was traded to Denver, his voters were transferred out West. Alternates will be named next week. </div> Source
NOOOOO!!!!!! Vince isn't an all-star. They just reveled it one TNT and Arenas caught up and won! I know that the coaches aren't gonna vote for Carter.
Do you guys think the coaches will vote for him? I think it will be him and Kidd. Now I expect Carter to come out on fire tonight.
I would be very very surprized if the Coaches didn't select Carter, a guy that was 3k votes from starting. I do think this might motivate Vince to play hard to get coaches to select him. It might turn out to be a good thing after all.
<div class="quote_poster">Mercury Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Good. Arenas deserves the start way more than Carter. At least some fans realize it.</div> I know he deserves it more and I realize it, but if this is a popularity contest most of the time you want your favorite players in especially a guy like Vince. What would the ASG be like without Vinsanity?
<div class="quote_poster">Carter Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">What would the ASG be like without Vinsanity?</div> Fair? Same reason Dwight should have been voted in over Shaq.

They always get left out, and that annoys me at times. How does Mcgrady get it over Nash? Are you serious!?
Isn't all star games about fun? The coaches could vote the real people in, but the fans wanna see the more exciting players.

No, so you can't say the fans want to see the more exciting players. Some fans actually want the deserving players to play, and for the record I find Arenas exciting.
Maybe not as exciting as Carter, but it's not like VC is so exciting anymore. Still I pick Arenas because he deserves it. That's it. Carter is always in the Allstar even if he doesn't deserve it, so maybe we can finally see a slight change. Oh and if Kidd doesn't get voted in, then no way in hell Carter should even be considered.
I wouldnt be surprised that those 3,000 or so votes were all Arenas... though he deserves it more anyway.
^ Yea but they weren't tied before, so he needed more than an extra 3000 votes added to his normal to get ahead of Vince.
Obviously the All-Star game is gonna sell out and is gonna get high TV ratings, but wouldn't you think it to be in the NBA's best interests to put the most exciting players out there? In my opinion Kidd or Wade paired with VC in the backcourt is the most exciting combo in in the East. Arenas is great, but he doesn't have the intensity and flair the Carter does. I'll be disappointed if he doesn't make the startng line up A little off topic but you know what I wanna see? Actual big names in the dunk contest. The last time this came close to even happening was the Richardson/Jefferson contest (I forget what year), and neither were that well known outside of their cities.
