<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Giantsfan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>only 11 million is guaranteed and if he doesnt work out you cut him. With taht said he doesnt look to good on paper but I think that he is better then any LB they could have got at what the 24th spot... I hope the giants trade their pick for another decent LB. I would love to have a speedy LB to compliment Lavar and Pierce.</div> 25th & they'll probably look for a DB in round 1 now. Antonio Cromartie is my 1st thought.
^ typo I knew it was 25th lol See thats the thing though they signed McQuarters, Madison, and they still have big potential with last years 2nd round pick Corey Webster. Curtis DSeloatch did alright in filling in for people last year as well. With arrington we will see. I have some high hopes for him. He is gifted but he reys on his athleticism too mush is what Im hearing the most but time will only tell if this was a good signing or not.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>By TOM SILVERSTEIN tsilverstein @ journalsentinel.com Posted: April 25, 2006 It's easy to assume that quarterback Brett Favre's uncertain status played a role in free-agent linebacker LaVar Arrington's decision to reject the Green Bay Packers' offer and sign with the New York Giants. But Arrington told the Washington Times last weekend that Favre intervened on the Packers' behalf late in the process to strongly encourage the three-time Pro Bowl linebacker to sign with the Packers. Arrington told the newspaper that Favre nearly swayed him to accept an offer from Green Bay that was thought to be for more money than what the Giants offered. One of Arrington's agents, Kevin Poston, confirmed that Arrington didn't take the best offer on the table, telling the Newark Star-Ledger that one of the teams offered slightly more, although he declined to name the team. The Packers and Giants were thought to be the two finalists in the Arrington sweepstakes, with Miami and Jacksonville making pitches as well. Packers general manager Ted Thompson said he had no knowledge of Favre playing a role in recruiting Arrington. Neither Poston nor Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook, could be reached for comment. But the Times reported that Arrington received a sales pitch from Favre before he made his decision and thought hard about it.</div> As much as this will cause some Favre unable to get a deal joke.. Let's look at the fact that I think most of this board (especially Beef) don't think Arrington is worth what he got paid. According to this he took the lower offer from the Giants. The team wasn't confirmed but someone offered more money that the Giants but he took the Giants. WOW if it was the Packers then I'm happy he didn't sign with us. He's not worth that much.

He was kept in check one on one in his bowl game as Manny Lawson saw most of the double teams, I think he's potentially the biggest Boom or Bust Prospect in the draft. I could easily be proven wrong but this is my feeling on him. As of now KGB has done more in the NFL than Williams has and I am an avid supporter of Kabeer as a Player, Teammate and a person, So far in all three of these aspects at the moment he eclipses Mario Williams. Im one of the few people that actually thought he made great strides in his run support last year especially with Kampman's development on the other side. The only real knock on him is that he tends to lose too much weight during the course of the season going from about 250-260 range to the 230-240 range. If he can maintain his bulk throughout the year he would be much more effective.

Lawson had a lot of one and ones while Mario was doubled more often. I think KGB is decline and I think he's way overpaid. I actually rather have Mario right now over him. Mario is a pass rushing DE that can play the run. KGB is a good pass rusher. I'll take Mario over Hawk as well. Hawk is a great prospect but doesn't have that much upside and isn't a one of a kind prospect. Mario is.

Mario Williams has even been drafted yet, but you, being the astute observer that you are, recognize that KGB has done more....well done....this just in: Pre-drafted Rookie has made no contribution to NFL, story at 11.... 3.KGB is a good pass rusher, but thats about it....teams run at him for a reason....hes overpaid, but all pass rushers are, thats the reality of the NFL....you pay the guys that can throw it and the guys that hunt the guys that can throw it....

YES I was simply responding to a post by Porky that I had missed earlier 2. That is my point I woulden't want to take a guy who hasn't taken a snap in the NFL over a proven player. 3. I agree with you there, but I think he made progress in his run defense last year which is what I stated.
there room on a defense for both guys....KGB is strictly a blindside end, he has to play behind the QB and he has to be able to threaten the tackle up the field to be effective....if theres no threat of him going around the tackle and splattering the QB, then his countermoves dont work and hes useless....Mario Williams is big enough and strong enough that he can threaten the QB without running by a tackle(or atleast he has the potential to do so)....he could be effective playing the rush end or base end....he could even move inside on passing downs....no one ever knows how a guy is going to translate to the NFL, and theres no such thing as a sure thing, but based on his size/speed ratio, Mario Williams could be a cross between Jason Taylor and Michael Strahan....if he gets even close to his potential, he will be a much better player than KGB ever was....

Every prospect has that bust factor. I think Williams is going to be great. Premeir pass rushers with potential like Williams are worth that high of a pick.
