Eastern Conference Lebron James (2 515 049) Dwyane Wade (2 029 591) Gilbert Arenas (1 454 166) Shaquille O'Neal (1 622 466) Chris Bosh (1 091 263) Western Conference Yao Ming (2 451 718) Kobe Bryant (2 138 777) Tracy McGrady (1 942 796) Kevin Garnett (1 616 575) Tim Duncan (1 436 584) Despite completely botching up the centers, the big story seems to be the fans voting in Gilbert Arenas over Vince Carter in the past month or so. Apparently, it was 4th closest race in NBA All-Star history, with only a 3 010 difference in votes. Link
Yea, I just realized that. He was the 4th guard in the West with 1,504,826 votes and was behind Allen Iverson's 1,813,638 (they counted votes that happened when he was in the Eastern Conference, though so it's not really fair).
Dirk should have started in the place of Duncan/KG. He deserved it a lot. I see West owning big time. I am curious to know who the reserves will be. Caron Butler and Josh Howard might have a chance.

I've said it before that the all star selection is a popularity competition and I still believe it, but cmon, Shaq over D Howard? If you even follow basketball slightly, you'd know Shaq doesn't deserve it. If I had it my way, Nash and Dirk would be starting.
What the hell is Shaq doing in there? He's only played about 6 games this season, and played poorly in all of them.

Damn, with Dwight Howard at the C spot hopefully by next year (unlikely) the East starters would be set for years to come. Unless Oden comes to the East. G Arenas G Wade F James F Bosh C Howard All 25 or younger. Scary.
Why the hell is TMac listed as a guard? I'm sick of seeing a KG/Duncan forward combo every single year.
Seeing Shaq as a starter makes me sick. He's only played five freaking games all year, and that's NOT deserving of a starting spot. I don't care if the fans want him there, he doesn't deserve it. As for Yao, at least he's played a nice chunk of the season, but he's already stated he won't be playing.
On TNT Overtime Charles Barkey said it best when they announced Shaq as a starter: "WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?" It really is a shame, it just shows that most of the voting is all popularity.
It's ok that voting is a popularity contest, but their should be a minimum of games played (20-25) in order to qualify for the ASG. I'm happy Arenas made it over Carter, because Carter has always received more votes than he really deserves. Shaq should be replaced by Dwight and T-Mac + Garnett by Nash + Nowitzki and it would be perfect. Garnett could be replacing Yao as a starter.

the game is for fans to vote in who they want to play...but really shaq is just ridiculous...they should set a requirement for games played to be entered into the ASG
