This is what the NBA wanted and I'm glad it continues to backfire in their face every year. I don't pay attention to the All-Star game and it's a waste of time to even discuss who should and shouldn't be in it. As long as the fans are allowed to vote the starters in, you're going to have a lot of problems. I'm just waiting for the fans to vote in a random player into the starting lineup. We should all collectively agree to vote Brian Scalabrine into the starting lineup next year.
<div class="quote_poster">chuck.be Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It's ok that voting is a popularity contest, but their should be a minimum of games played (20-25) in order to qualify for the ASG. I'm happy Arenas made it over Carter, because Carter has always received more votes than he really deserves. Shaq should be replaced by Dwight and T-Mac + Garnett by Nash + Nowitzki and it would be perfect. Garnett could be replacing Yao as a starter.</div> I agree 20-25 games minimum would fix a lot of problems. I think it should be KG Dirk T-Mac Kobe Nash <div class="quote_poster">shapecity Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">This is what the NBA wanted and I'm glad it continues to backfire in their face every year. I think the fans should get to vote for who the want to see, and it's going to get ugly like this with players like Shaq aging...like chuck.be said there should be a 20-25 game minimum.

I'm not sure, but don't they have this one random vote thing where you can vote for any player? I only voted a few times this year so I'm not quite sure. I remember this year in the NHL, some random player from the Canucks almost got voted in as a starter, but he fell short. From the way he got coverage and was talked abut in the Canadian Media, I'm assuming he's the Canucks equivalent to a Matt Bonner (Raptors), Ronny Turiaf, Pat Burke, Scot Pollard or someone.
The reserves should be named in Tuesday. Too bad that Shaq is starting, not Dwight. Very sad. I'm happy that CB4 is starting at least. And ofcourse KOBE AND MCGRADY. BTW: Yao will not play beacuse of his injury, right ? Who will be our starting center then, Amare ? Good that Gil was voted over Vince. West ftw !
Steve Nash Kobe Bryant Carmelo Anthony Dirk Nowitzki Amare Stoudamire Jason Kidd Gilbert Arenas LeBron James Chris Bosh Dwight Howard What the starting lineups should be IMO.

So the finger of blame should be pointed at the majority of NBA fans around the world who apparently don't pay attention to the game. You can't blame Stern for using this methodology.
He said that Stern should make a rule that coaches vote for the All-Star game. Coaches and other NBA important guys. I don't know 'em. ;D Not fans, it's really kinda pointless beacuse even 5 year old guys can vote there.

Fans who don't pay attention to the game would not even bother voting for the all star game. I've always had this conspiracy theory about the league rigging the starter votes to generate more popularity. The fans don't control it.

Well with Boozer out for 4-6 weeks, I guess that opens up another roster spot. Zach Randolph, Deron Williams, Ray Allen all have a bigger chance to join the squad now.
