<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SAN ANTONIO -- Mike Miller is looking for another green light. The Grizzlies' swingman already operates in the team's new up-tempo offense with the freedom to hoist shots -- seemingly without regard to distance -- and he's unquestionably flourished. Now Miller wants to showcase his sharp shooting next month during the NBA's All-Star Weekend. He'd like to compete in the 3-point shootout, and hopes the league sees fit to extend an invitation. "It would be fun to do. It's a nice honor to have if they pick you," said Miller, who will try to help the Griz end their four-game road trip on a high note tonight against the San Antonio Spurs in the AT&T Center. The Griz are coming off an impressive 132-130 overtime victory Wednesday at Utah. Miller buried five of the Grizzlies' 16 3-pointers in their third road victory this season. "Our offense is getting better," Miller said, "and it's helped me in certain ways." The Grizzlies' second-leading scorer entered Thursday ranked second in the NBA in 3-point field goals made (119) and attempted (285). In establishing himself as one of the league's top gunners, Miller's shot at a 42-percent clip from beyond the arc. That ranks 10th in the league. "I think I'd have a chance," Miller said of winning the 3-point competition. "I've done it before and didn't do as well as I wanted. It'd be nice to go and feel like you have a chance." Miller's last shot at the shooting crown happened in 2002 at Philadelphia during his second NBA season. Then-Sacramento Kings guard Peja Stojakovic won the competition. Miller hasn't been invited back. Miller competing in this long-distance competition would give Griz faithful something to cheer for in a season otherwise filled with hardship. The Griz could actually have three representatives at the Las Vegas event should the coaches select rookie Rudy Gay and second-year forward Hakim Warrick to participate in the Rookie-Sophomore game. Last season, the Griz celebrated their first selection to the All-Star game when the coaches chose Pau Gasol as a reserve center. Gasol missed the first 22 games this season, making it practically impossible to earn a second straight All-Star appearance. "It would be something positive for us," Miller said. "We're trying to do some different things around here. Whenever there are changes, there's going to be a transition so this would be nice to go out there and do. It'd be something positive. I'd like to go there and represent the Grizzlies as best as possible." </div> Source
