<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Freshman Ty Lawson scored a career-high 18 points and No. 4 North Carolina routed 17th-ranked Arizona 92-64 Saturday, handing Lute Olson his worst home loss in 24 seasons as coach of the Wildcats. Five other Tar Heels scored in double figures as North Carolina (19-2) won its fourth straight. The Tar Heels played without No. 2 scorer and rebounder Brandan Wright and reserve swingman Marcus Ginyard, who had stomach illnesses. They missed neither. North Carolina, which whipped the Wildcats 86-69 in Chapel Hill last season, ended Arizona's 29-game home winning streak against non-conference opponents, the fourth-longest in the nation. Chase Budinger scored 16 points, all in the second half, for Arizona (14-6), which lost for the fifth time in seven games. It was the season's lowest scoring total for Arizona, which averages 83.4 points per game, best in the Pac-10. But the Tar Heels held the Wildcats to one basket in the final 9:10 of the first half and without a field goal for nearly seven minutes in the second half. Arizona went 1-for-23 beyond the 3-point arc. Previously, Olson's worst home defeat was a 12-point loss to Tennessee on Dec. 23, 1983, his second month on the job. </div> Source I woke up a little late and only saw the 2nd half, I guess Arizona started the game off sluggish and never recovered. Arizona has really struggled behind the arc lately and it's taken a big time effect on them. Marcus Williams also sprained his ankle in this one, so he'll probably be out a week even though he came back in this game. I think Onobun should of came in instead of Marcus Williams because we cut the lead to a 13 point game. Instead UNC went on a 9-0 run right after they put Williams back in because he simply couldn't do anything except set screens. It was a fast pace game and they put a guy that could barely run in, I really question Lute's coaching lately but injuries have really hurt too. Budinger got in early foul trouble I guess and had to sit but had 16 in the 2nd half. The guy that impressed me the most was Jordan Hill, the frosh is really stepping up his game lately. This guy is going to be an absolute stud, he's definetly someone to watch.
Ty Lawson is the real deal, he reminds me of a mix between Nate Robinson and Chris Paul. He's a great distributor and always finds a way to finish among the trees.

Mustafa Shakur never ceases to disappoint me. Here he is, in his senior year, going up against a freshman, and he goes 4-11 from the field with only four dimes while turning it over eight times. Meanwhile, Lawson, a freshman, puts up 18 points, 3 boards, 8 dimes, 4 steals, and only 1 turnover. Granted Lawson's a hell of a lot more talented than your average freshman, he's still a freshman, and it's not like Shakur's a slouch. Those stat lines should have been reversed. As far as I'm concerned, he's the reason why they lost the game as badly as they did. Marcus Williams didn't exactly help things though. I can't figure the kid out. The guy is so streaky and never really brings it defensively. McClellan's shot looks like it's still being effected by his knee too. If those three players (Shakur, Williams, McClellan) all have games like the ones they did against UNC, then I'd expect them to get blown out like that every time. They're all capable of much better though.
1-23 from behind the arc for Arizona? What happened to the team that would make basically everything earlier in the year? Arizona hasn't been playing as well since they lost to Washington State. Arizona is in some major trouble right now...especially considering they played four ranked teams in their next six games.

It's hard to say it, but Arizona is probably overrated and a big disappointment at this time. The bench is severely a problem they have, with only 2 guys coming off of it that are trustworthy, Arizona can't afford to get into foul trouble Jordan Hill had a breakout game yesterday and has been playing excellent lately but he need to stay out of foul trouble. Dan Dillion is a good defensive player but he is always a question mark offensively. I really like Fendi Onobun but Olson doesn't use him nearly as much as he should. Onobun should of came in yesterday when Marcus Williams sprained his ankle but he sent Williams back out there.
